Misc General Banter Thread

my last statement was before the ukmet tonight; hoping it holds onto a snowy solution, cause it bit down and showed a cutter way earlier than other guidance for the operational side and never let go last event

Lol are you being serious? 20 inches of 20 to 1 snow is the same weight as 8 inches of 8 to 1 snow. Last I checked 8 inches of snow doesn't collapse roofs unless its made of card board. But nevermind any of that because no one is going to sniff anything close to that or half of that either.
Fair point. And no, 8 inches isn’t roof collapsing. Not even in the south.

Last week’s dread has made me edgy. Gonna take a while to shake that off. Just looking at pics out of MS isn’t helping.

Heck. I don’t even know if ive ever seen 20:1 snow before. The rare occasion we do get snow in Atlanta, it’s usually pretty darn wet. And heavy to shovel.

Imma look out the back door at my 3' pile of ice that's in my way. It fell as SN/IP but the last coating of ZR sealed it in. Now it's solid.
The deck was completely shoveled and cleared late morning on Sunday after the first round. This is from the second round on Sunday.
Now we get Saturday to look forward to. Bring it on. We only do this once a year at best.

Bringing the ull thru Ala. gets Ga into the def bands and some good amounts as opposed to dropping down thru the Carolinas and giving w Ga squat. I'd like to see it turn east around LaGrange. Get Ala involved.
Watching def bands in another state is hella easier than watching one a few miles away.

But yes, get Ala involved. Please. But at this point, that just doesn’t seem to be something can even hope for. This feels like we’re gonna get squat.

Let the Carolinas get hammered and then bring the big snow storm to AL & GA! It’s cruel to make it this cold and leave us out.

The dry snow here always underperformed i've noticed. I mean it took over 30 hours to get 8 inches here

Give me that heavy wet gloppy stuff any day!

I think you're saying it's not looking like an ice storm. You're getting negative responses like you're saying it actually looks like it's maybe so.
That would be a fantastic clarification to make. Thanks for your great input to discussions here.
I think people may read too far into a “dislike”. I don’t always treat it as something that reflects on the poster.

My dislike reaction was to an ice storm look (or even mention of). Not the quality of the actual post. I’ve not studied that look to see if ice storm right or wrong. I just saw highs north and wedge looking. And I’m like “oh hell no, not again”. Last week was miserable. I need fun winter tracking!

Pretty large decrease on the EPS for most. Hopefully it’s not the start of our classic rug pull we see a couple days before go time
Hope is why we appear to “never learn”. And I’m ok with appearing to “never learn”. Cuz it’s not like I/we haven’t. The “but what if?” is so worth the risk! It’s paid off before. And that rush is glorious!

Just don’t carry this being “ok with” to polymarket or whatever that other one is. The one that sounds like some crunchy, earthy cracker or cereal at Whole Foods. Do they let you bet on storms yet? Don’t answer that.

I took your reactions as a dislike to an ice storm potential. I really didn't think he was indicating that by his post - but that it could be misconstrued.
I don't think he meant to mean an ice storm potential with the storm; but I'll let him answer.

I read it exactly as he meant it. But I guess if I squint, I can maybe see some confusion? Maybe? But prolly important to clarify things, so it’s cool ya pointed it out. Imagine some others are a bit shell shocked from this past week.

Regardless, it’s been cleared up in the Fab Feb thread. It’s that dreaded look. But plenty of time to go other ways. I guess I’ll just choose to be grateful that we have more threats after this weekend.

Someone was telling me last week there is a site you can bet on weather and everything in between. I was like remind me to stay the hell away from that.

Oh it’s totally a thing. Manipulations and all. And not regulated. Have heard about on various tech podcasts and the All In podcast.

I have pretty hard core guardrails on such that I’m even afraid to look at it. Not cuz I have gambling issues, but cuz the concept of even having an issue scares the hell out of me. Prolly a healthy fear thing. Like walking away from the ledge cuz ya can imagine jumping off it.

14/5 here west of Winston. Looks like were headed down to the basement for temperatures tonight. Dripping a few faucets; we'll see how it goes. Take care.

I’m feeling for the folks in Alabama (middle of the state) really hope Feb can bring some more systems. Not seeing much after this weekend but maybe the pattern is still there. My brother lives in Birmingham and I know him and his kids have been bummed.

Yeah its sucks knowing we can’t even buy a snowstorm this year this winter season for Alabama has been awful

IF IT NEVER SNOWED OR ICED AGAIN IN ALABAMA I WOULD DIE A HAPPY MAN. MY PAYING JOB IS A 9-1-1 DISPATCHER FOR A COUNTY NEAR BIRMINGHAM AND IT IS COMPLETLY CRAZY WHEN IT SNOWS. HELL FOLKS CANT DRIVE WHEN ITS DRY THEN YOU ADD IN FROZEN STUFF TO THE MIX AND IT IS A NIGHTMARE. IM ALSO A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER AND ITS THE SAME ON THAT END AS WELL..

I feel defeated after the weathernext tick east lol. Let’s defy all odds today and have it tick back west!

Memory serves me right, it kinda went a bit being the furthest SE on of our systems esrlier this season, only to slingshot back NW by a good bit. Not overly concerned ... yet.

Yeah, it was incorrect for the most part on system #1 earlier this January. It locked in decently on system #2, but I can’t feel overly positive there as it showed a bad ice storm well south of where you had some…high ratio ice for at least 8-9 runs.

I’d be more concerned about what the weather next is doing.

Well I hope everyone is safe and warm. I just got done with a 48hr shift clearing roads in Bakersville NC (Mitchell County). Back roads are solid ice in WNC especially the foothill regions. Did get some backend NW flow yesterday. Interesting storm. Now to bed lol I'm beat.
