RDU airport had 2 inches according to now data. Just checked Sanford it had 1.5 inches. I’m still curious as to what the absolute coldest low with no snow cover is .In sanford NC, we didnt have snowcover.
I remember the morning, but Im surprised bc I dont recollect snow. But, I cant argue the fact. Good find!!!RDU airport had 2 inches according to now data. Just checked Sanford it had 1.5 inches
Day before the blast had 67/15 with 1.5 inches in Sanford . Probably falling overnight ! Frontal snow. Not much of a snowpack though I’m not sure how much depth affects things vs just having cover . Sanford dropped to -3 only it looks vs -9 at RDU.I remember the morning, but Im surprised bc I dont recollect snow. But, I cant argue the fact. Good find!!!
This could be big as it extrapolates east.
Charlotte got down to -5 with the 1985 outbreak with no snow on the ground. The dusting that fell as the Arctic front came through had evaporated by the that nightRDU airport had 2 inches according to now data. Just checked Sanford it had 1.5 inches. Reread what I said bro, snowpack ! I’m wondering what the coldest temps can get without a snowpack are . I’m a climo data machine ik when we hit single digits trust me lol. Perhaps @SD knows .
Any examples of it being in the single digits with 0 snow on the ground ? 2015,2014,2018,2000, 1985 etc all had snow on the ground if I’m not mistaken with the record lows . Genuinely curious , would take a bit of digging to find out .
Here’s the whole run. Last one was through next Sunday.

I was Down East in 1985. No snowpack If I remember correctly. The sounds froze over thoughReread what I said bro, snowpack ! I’m wondering what the coldest temps can get without a snowpack are . I’m a climo data machine ik when we hit single digits trust me lol. Perhaps @SD knows .

MapsTrend is your friend, deeper N/S trough over the GLs/slower S/S wave = overrunning potentialView attachment 69718View attachment 69719
DT has been off off off his rocker lately vs the off his rocker he used to be
I mean the eps mean is 28 and 25 with most members above 20.
I don’t think RDU’s all time record low of -9 came with any snow on the ground, though I may be mistaken.Idk it looks pretty stout , I’d bet on 15 degrees , anything under that will take a stronger push or a snowpack. Single digits will 100% require a snowpack. Honestly I have to wonder what the absolute coldest we can get without a snowpack is. Cant be much colder than 15. All our record lows happen with a snowpack .
Welp that was a long arctic outbreak lolMeh, this isn’t to ideal but I’m not sweating it View attachment 69731

Man you are in a really good spot the next couple weeks. You're gonna score big timeChanged my mind! I’ll take one 00z CMC instead.View attachment 69740View attachment 69738View attachment 69739
The 80s werent as stellar as yall think. Few events, but just as long priods of meh as we have today. I still say for NC 2000-2010 was betterI don’t think RDU’s all time record low of -9 came with any snow on the ground, though I may be mistaken.
Then again, things were different back in the 80s and setups from the 80s just don’t work like they use to, etc etc etc. ?

Thanks, although if I don’t I hope the Southeast scores instead. In an ideal situation we both get a big dog storm.Man you are in a really good spot the next couple weeks. You're gonna score big time
Those temps on the GFS for the 12th make me think the storm on the 10th cuts west of us.I honestly feel like that pattern next week/late this weekend for the overrunning potential could go either way, even severe weather as a unfavorable possibility, just lots of uncertainty
