This is as warm as it gets this day on the Euro......keeps a lot of us under freezing ( hell under 25) for 2 days.......impressive....

I'd definitely be more worried about suppression with that look, but my god. Such a classical look for a big board wide southern snowstorm.
That high is locked in with the -NAO. If ever the EMCF were right on day 10, let this be the time!

That has to be the most beautiful setup for a Southern board wide storm I've seen in a long time. You can't beat a low like that with a strong high in a position like that.

Gonna add some climo perspectives since everyone is going Gaga over barney. The last sub 25 high in rdu for the month of January was in 1988. For the month of February it was in 2015. However, they have happened only 9 times in over 130 years for the month of February . Let alone 2 back to back days .

Well, at the very minimum, it looks like we are going to have the super blocking pattern we've had all winter combined with some legitimate cold in the US. Game on!
This was definitely worth the faulty 3-4 days of bad trends ... warm hasn’t won a battle in a while ... and it looks like we’re still headed for the belly of the beast that is winter 2020-2021

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but normally when we get that cross polar flow with vodka cold, everything is suppressed so far south. It also seems when that cold comes it is a very dry air mass and any QPF that makes it into the area has to saturate the column and we end up seeing virga.
it’s a fair point. Much rather have this cold air locked in place though and worry about suppression. Plus we always have our NW trend in the end which will give us room to work with.
Well euro is how you snow for everyone and then drop lows in the single digits. If this comes to fruition holy ----!!

Yessir. Gimme the cold first. Arctic air is hard to come by here.
We are surrounded by water on 2 sides in the southeast US, plus a warm gulf stream. Wet will always find a way at some point.
