ICON has a lot of precip falling as rain, although it is probably the warmest biased model so you would think the clown map would be even heftier in amounts in reality.

Gfs so far looks better at H5, not as elongated and not as strung out over the central US, (energy looks better over MN/Iowa) this run will probably be improved

I agree. I doubt the globals change much overnight or much at all. It's going to be short range versus globals. I'm curious who wins. My early money is on the globals though at this point, until we get within 24 hours.

This storm even though not the same setup as last one, could end up basically the same as for as accumulations go for the upstate.

Probably not going to be as robust as the NAM, but the GFS seems to be moving in that direction.

GFS probably still a bit warm so a lot of those yellows showing up in SC is probably heavy wet snow. I'd have to check the soundings.

Geez is the NAM gonna catch another W ? sure it’s first few long range runs weren’t impressive but geez things are trending towards it

The last 4 GFS runs are clearly going towards the colder/snowier NAM solution. So much for it being an "outlier"

NAM always catches W's. Its always my favorite model, along with the Euro if we are going 5+ days. The GFS remains utter trash, but it is catching up. NC is looking at a major winter storm, with SC and GA likely seeing decent snow. I see very good trends across the board in the coming days.

I wonder with the improvements made to it if it is a case of the global models picking up on the basic threat for a storm, and then the NAM comes in for the short range and figures out the finer details.
