Tunica & Desoto counties in MS now included in the Winter Storm Watch. I imagine my county (Tate) will be included a little later.
Nam really upped the qpf this run. Was about 0.3-0.4 higher then 06z. Trends this morning have been pretty good.View attachment 112133
I want to see what it shows later in the day when it gets more into it’s solid wheelhouse. If the 3KM NAM is to be believed the Ice stays along the MS River and never really gets into Northwest MS.

Looking at the 12Z compared to the 6Z, the heavier amounts appear to have moved closer to the River. So we will need to see if it continues to move southeast across the River.I want to see what it shows later in the day when it gets more into it’s solid wheelhouse.

I want lots of pics!
That’s a good thing no? I keep praying this thing doesn’t come any further south and east. People will be without power for a week minimum if what’s being showed actually happens. No matter what happens we aren’t getting snow from this so to me I’d rather just stay rain and above freezing temps.Unless we see some more southeastward shifts in the next couple runs, I’m thinking the majority of significant impacts will be felt west of the River for my location.
Certainly a good thing for me but not for others. Only observing what the models are showing. Hoping there isn't much accrual. That’s a good thing no? Very possible sleet mixes in with the freezing rain in parts of west tenn and northwest middle. I think other parts of middle may not be out of the woods especially central and southwest parts of middle tenn. It’s not going to take much of a jog at this point to put them in this either. I wouldn’t rule out your area and parts of northeast middle totally of if the woods yet either. Wouldn’t take much of move southeast to do it at this point. It does look like pretty much all rain in eastern middle and East Tennessee. That’s a good thing no? I keep praying this thing doesn’t come any further south and east. You need to get a chair! ASSPYeah no question it's gonna snow it's just how much
I can't believe we're still seeing a foot modeled this late in the game
That’s pretty crazy but I bet a lot of storms have been close to that over the years. This ones gonna sting for awhile! I guess there’s reasons DBQ hasn’t had a double digit snowstorm in like 10-15 years! ?View attachment 112214
I’ve heard people say it’s because we are so far away from the gulf. It’s just hard to get moisture transport all the way up here to get super juicy storms. It’s fairly dry year round, I think annual precip is like 25 inches. So about half of what GSP getsThat’s pretty crazy but I bet a lot of storms have been close to that over the years.
