Local met just did a stream and outright mentioned the blizzard word
But he's also still concerned the metro could mix with sleet at the peak Wednesday night and cut down on snow

GFS has been trending towards much more widespread precipitation Wednesday afternoon.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such agreement at day 4! This is also total opposite of the Euro which spared most of Texas from the significant ice

Big jump NW on precip field on 18z!! One more shift and I’m in the band! ????
GFS still putting down what would be historic amounts in a large swath of the Midwest. Widespread 2+ feet of snow.
Hopefully, we will see more model agreement/consistency tonight. I'm still considerably that trip back to Detroit.

It will cut down on totals but if you manage 2-3 inches of sleet plus a couple inches of snow it will stay around for a longer time. It’s great sledding in too! Last year I got 3 inches of sleet plus 2 inches of snow in a similar set up to yours. In 2015 I had a massive sleet and snow storm that stayed on the ground for 2 weeks. Cloudy and cold conditions helped but it was the longest I’ve ever had snow stay on the ground.

Unfortunately there's a lot of sleet on that map ? very sharp snow gradient around me if you take it verbatim

Yeah, I’m thinking that where the GFS is showing sleet there will at least be some spots that are mixing more with snow.
One way or the other we are going to get a pretty big winter storm here.

A good layer of sleet with snow on top of it is the best.

I mean yeah it would still be a solid snow no doubt but the high end totals probably wouldn't verify
There is still the wave on Thursday too which I could see another inch or two from that

I would expect that we get a winter storm watch issued some point tomorrow. Possibly in the morning, but likely by afternoon.

Canadian would be horrific for areas around Memphis. Hopefully this is just the Canadian being way to aggressive with ice.

Well, snow does accumulate on top of a sheet of ice very efficiently. So there is that!

It happened in 2011 which was the biggest snow in Tulsa history
