I thought that influx from the coast would’ve turned coastal communities to some mixed sleet at least. Heck if they remain snow they could come close to that foot.

I bet Knotts Island looks nice

Overall, given the complexity of the forecast I am pretty pleased with the preliminary reports coming in compared to my forecast. Not perfect, but that was impossible here IMO.

I will say my Wake County forecast was a bit of a gamble. I basically decided that the flatter trend would hold the mid-level WAA / sleet line at bay and that NWP would not properly account for the jet dynamic-induced precipitation and I believe that is ultimately how this all played out.

Yadkin may outdue Surry/Wilkes with an inch or so. A dusting to a coating for Wilkes/Surry altho need to monitor the brushy mountains they could pick up 1-4” as it just dumps on Iredell. That small micro mountain chain is really important in this type of setup as it snows itself out south and east.

That 3/4 inch agrees with what we've seen in Lewisville today. I'd really like to see some more.
 
Feel like our short range models is worse then ever (HRRR/NAM) sometimes there good, but most of the time they suck. when was the last time the HRRR received an update, NAM we already know. But the HRRR is trash with QPF, and I notice every single storm, it’s dried up leading up to a event only to correct right when the event is unfolding

I'm no random! I've been lurking for a while. . .waiting for my moment! Actually, I got banned from AmericanWX (the Mid-Atlantic folks didn't appreciate my comments) and the SE group noted you guys and well. . HERE I AM!

nvm -- imby im still getting teeny tiny mood flakes, only noticeable once i went outside to look. and DANG it got cold. 24 degrees but wind chill of 15!
