Wintry Feb. 19-20

I’ll be honest, climo says the best place to be with a clipper sweeping in is going to be immediately to the east of the mountains. That’s highway 25 and to the east in SC and the immediate escarpment in the piedmont and then the counties further east as long as it holds together. Hate it for Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson counties in SC but precip generally fires up immediately to the east of the highest elevations as the clipper sweeps through. Just what I’ve seen from prior events like this.

The early Dec event looks quite similar to this one for tomorrow morning at 500mb and 700mb. However, a limiting factor for the E Upstate and out into the S Foothills and S Piedmont is that it doesn't look like we're going to have a well-defined GSP mesolow and convergence trough / zone at the surface and 850mb like we did with the early Dec event. The GSP mesolow is a common feature in the higher quality setups like this with a wave approaching from the NW and crossing the S Apps. 2nd image below from Eric Webb from the early Dec event.

Yep, 100% correct. If I actually got in on it I think it would be a first for me. Probably doesn't matter anyway, it would never stick. Stuck on 36, never went below freezing and I have nowhere to wetbulb down to. Would need very quick CAA and the ground would stll be warm. It's just how it is. I hope somebody gets a good coating somewhere, maybe you and Jimmy.

Hey guys! Ik this will come as a shock to many of you. Upon waking up and checking , unfortunately it does not look like I will be winning Grits snowfall contest 3.0. Now Ik I was probably your pick to be a heavy fav, and I caved under the pressure of the Great “Moyock Mauler” but just know I will retool and be back next year. I will sharpen my mental pencil until I’m in the same rafters as the greats before me, Stevo, Birdman, and so many more!
