Wintry Feb. 19-20

I think elizabeth city is about to go to all sleet and stay that way for the storm. Really sucks because I had them jackpotting in the contest and i've otherwise nailed every other city.

No sleet at all IMBY at least. Just very light snow. I drove up to Cole Park Plaza and county line and can tell Orange County did a little better than me. The closer I got the more snow was on the surfaces.
Ah gotcha. Unfortunately, with it being a daytime snow it was more sensitive to rates, too, since if rates weren’t sufficient it wouldn’t stick at all. Hoping you can make some hay here at the end. Hoping we get the back edge to back build or at least stall out. Rates have dropped a bit here now although still not bad.

youre close to the durham/CH line near 15-501, right? as i mentioned last night, i had a feeling Chatham side of CH would get significantly less than where you're at - and I think I probably have a bit more than you (im guessing im past 2.5 inches now but going to go out and measure/snow walk soon!), so the cut offs are definitely pronounced
Yeah, I’m within a mile from the interstate and the intersection of 15-501. Interesting we are outperforming a lot of areas in Wake, too, although that may tip towards them tonight as I’d expect them to hold on to precip longer.

weather dot com needs to stop embarrassing itself - ive checked about hourly since the hard snow started around noon just to see what it would say, and it has not budged on saying "1 inch left in 24 hrs" even though at noon it said 0 inches had fallen, 1 inch to go lmao. now it is "3 inches fallen, 1 inch to go...."

lets get to "5 inches fallen, one to go?!"

For western and SC folks, what's the over/under chance of a snow squall warning being issued tomorrow in y'all's opinion?
I don’t think they will do that the NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for tomorrow till 1pm

Snow squall warnings are hexagonal similar to svr warnings. They're issued when there are localized conditions of heavy snow, gusty winds and low visible
I’m aware just relaying what the NWS is saying. They opted to do a widespread winter weather advisory for up to 2” of snow until 1pm tomorrow. Better for the public to receive advanced warning.

Dropped to light snow for a while, but I’d say we are back to solidly moderate again. Definitely hoping to hold on to this for a few more hours! Though I doubt we have that long.
