Pattern Fabulous February

It wasn’t in certain places before February. I think the mean here was around 3 degrees above normal for December. For January it was right at normal overall but It was the lows though that were a tad above normal and that won’t get you winter weather very often in the southeast.
Yes our "cold" was more of a factor of it being so wet for December and first half of Jan. Suppressed daytime highs by some 4-6 degrees, while keeping lows some 2-4 degrees warmer.

Truly upsetting this was the last warm day before we cool down and get some rain again, I dont mind a SER dominated pattern, bring on the -PNA aswell, This was the best weather day of 2019 no doubt

When looking at ALL ATL winters back to 1878-9 to make folks feel better, it isn't even close to winters like 2016-7. Only one of the 12 warmest, 2015-6 (10th warmest) , was El Nino:

Warmest ATL DJF

1. 1889-90: 54.3
2. 1879-80: 52.4
3. 2016-7: 52.3
4. 1931-2: 51.9
5. 1956-7: 51.6
6. 1949-50: 50.6
7. 1948-9: 50.4
8. 2011-2: 50.3
9. 1881-2: 50.3
10. 2015-6: 49.5 warmest El Nino
11. 1998-9: 49.3
12. 2012-3: 49.2
13. 2018-9 48.9 projected

So, it has been a lot worse!
Yeah 1948-50 meant back to back warm winters. We would have been going crazy back then.

Every year for the rest of our lives.
Can’t wait for next winters La Niña coming up behind an awesome Midookie, with no STJ, and low solar activity, and -PNA and +NAO, no analfronts, that’s going to be our winter!!!

The El Nion this winter must have been a MiDukie. Duke was our problem all along.

Hard to believe in N AL with temps in the upper 70s DPs in the 60s with a strong cold front approaching there wasn’t a threat for severe today

We picked up a surprise 1 inch snow in March 2017. It was a winter wonderland for a few hours on a Saturday morning.
I missed out on that one. I think places in west Tennessee got as much as 3-4 inches though. Last March I got a beautiful 2 inch wet plaster job but it was gone by noon also. I then got snow showers twice in April.
