The GEFS is now going for above +6 for the AO!! The record for any day of the year back to 1950 is just over +5.9. History about to be made, folks, as we’re living in special times:

What goes up must come down! Good to know it can still snow with a record +AO. That might be the new teleconnection we need to root for lol
 
Looking like a close call to ZR for main CAD areas: will this keep trending colder or not? (Actually, this is slightly warmer than 6Z but the overall trend has been colder):

Remember, elevated convection is different, it’s gonna likely be cold at the surface during it, this type of convection does not form from the planetary SFC/BL but instead it develops off warm/moist air/MUcape above the inversion/stable layer, and with the inversion in place, you can get some loud ass thunder that bounces under the inversion, rarely get any severe in these setups so no need to worry about that
