I mean, something can always pop up in said warm pattern, but actual pattern change back to a colder one relative to the average probably after 20th, from what I've been reading from James Baker...

The models have pointed at a potential severe weather event around Valentine's Day for several days now. I wonder if the SPC will mention this in their 4-7 day outlook Sunday.

Yeah that system looks impressive on ensembles . People better start worry bout severe n tornadoes if most ensembles keep holding . Target zone still be determined
CFS aint looking good way out into early March for the moment. Good news is It changes like the wind, so there's that. Hopefully JB is on to something and we can have a shot at an end of winter storm late Feb/ early March. Otherwise , gonna be heading to the Garden thread.

It's been a very big storm on most of the runs so yeah wouldn't surprise me
This is the first time in days I've seen anything remotely close to wintry here and we might even have storms ahead of it if it happens
I would say the models have backed off the extreme torch a bit here for sure even if there's nothing wintry

I just don't get how the GFS and Euro are showing storms the last runs but still have snow, too.

I'm saying the precip types on both runs show thunderstorms for NC, not snow, but then they also have snowfall amounts. How is that?

That’s not as bad as the WxBell Euro AIFS, which regularly shows heavy snow on their clown maps deep in the Gulf for individual members WHILE temps are in the 60s to even 70s!
Probably won’t do us any good in the southeast but it’s probably going to be a cold March relative to averages.
But get a strong low pressure coming out of the Gulf of America it doesn’t take real cold temperatures to have a big southeast snowstorm especially for the upper southeast.
