It’s so far away though. It could end up being sunny and 75 by the time we get thereFeb 12-14 timeframe looks like big potential

The second half of February will put us out of our misery in Raleigh. Until then, we will have more missed snow opportunities to come.
As much as I love snow, I'm rolling in a parade on the 14th. I've spent too much money on throws to see it cancelled. Of course, now that I've said it out loud, it'll snow 5 inches here and I'll be stuck with beads and ramen noodles.GFS & EURO has a massive warmup doing that valentine day period. Big switch from yesterday.
We need western troughing
I need my snowpack backIt’s coming and it can’t come fast enough. Big ole Alaska low…
This nightmare winter hopefully ends soon. We just need that -NAO to die, all that does is block Raleigh from getting snow.

Model agreement…GEFS with a big Alaska low and big ole pac ridge. Should at least get us to seasonal temps and end of Feb seasonal for many will be approaching 60F.

This is so unlike me to actually say “no” to one more shot. But I’m exhausted. Tired of having my emotions yanked around. After many decades of hope never dying, this year has broken me. I need to heal. I think many folks do.Wait. You’re not hoping for one last shot at a winter storm? Smh

I’d love to actually be excited about things again come this fall. But I’m afraid another threat that ends in heartbreak would kill my inner snow loving child. I’d rather suffer a winter with no chances than relentless cold and teasing by the stupid models. This winter has just been cruel.
Hope away friend! You score us one, I wouldn’t be mad.I’m sitting right on GA / Bama line hoping for one more shot.

If this happens, the dry slot over RDU and points south will miraculously disappear and Raliegh will get its due share of sleet and freezing rain.Ice storm incoming

Hostile pacific establish by mid Feb. It takes time to get out of that and by that time it will be March. Winter over for Raleigh. For you guys it’s not over. For Raleigh.2 back to back winter storms and a pretty cold winter, It's time now for a Early Spring. And I will not be surprised if we see it
I think it's over for us upstate folks. Patterns don't last forever. I think it's fixing to Change to more seasonal and like you said once we hit it, it will be MarchHostile pacific establish by mid Feb. Need an old fashioned gom low. Cutters won't get us, lows in the Atlantic won't get us, clippers don't get us...at least they can't be counted on. Ulls are so squirrely they can't be counted on unless the track is just right. Need a tap in the gulf pulling qpf into cold air. Last system stopped a mile short of me. This system stopped a half mile short of me, and to twist the knife the sun came out, lol. Need a weak gom low, moving across Fla. throwing moisture over cold air in place.....and re enforced. Works every time unless the waa is too strong...or it's cad cold air...again too damn picky....might stop in Athens, or way up in the corner. And even then I can get a good sleet on occasion...if it's not the dreaded zr. But snow spreading across from Texas blanketing the whole south, top to bottom....perfecto... I used to see 'em..decades ago.For those of us in the western part of the south, this winter has been a major disappointment so far. Hopefully, the next system will bring us some of the good stuff.
That's what your hoping and praying for. You must not have been around for the recent Februarys around here of late if you know what I mean.I think it's over for us upstate folks. The Euro and GFS show troughs out west in the back half of February with ridging in the east. The 18z GFS shows 3 feet of snow near Salt Lake by the 16th of February. Kylo mentioned in an earlier post about the Euro Weeklies and the ridge building towards Alaska that supports and promotes a pattern shift to favor the western US for snow at that time. However, that's way to far away to take seriously right now. It has been a habit for models so far this winter where they reverse that as time gets closer.I know this doeant impact our area but for those of you who know how to read these longer range maps better than I do let me ask you a question. Taking my son out to Utah to ski first week of March. They are having a terrible snow season. Any real indication things will start looking better for snow out there in the next couple of weeks? Thanks
