I have this Friday off, so I am hoping to have something chaseable in the SE this weekend!!
Timing favors south/western NC, mainly the mtns, for a mixed shower Friday morning. Should precip speed up, temps are near 35 statewide, could be a small chance for Charlotte to Winston for a little mixed shower action.
ICON, throws moisture into the mtns/foothills much earlier around 3am Friday. Would likely be wintery mix if it hits the ground. All other guidance is just bad timing and allows us to warm up Friday before better moisture gets here.
You would have thought with the blocking we’ve had that areas East would be favored but that just hasn’t been the case. I just don’t know anymore.
NWS Blacksburg says light snow poss in the west Friday morning. 34 and rain is the forecast for here. Close call. Climo says moisture comes in sooner than models show. But will it reach the ground? And in what form? Sleet?
That ridge is to Far East
It doesn't help all of Canada is a furnace compared to normal. Those greens are pretty and all but its not enough when the source region is such a torch.
Oh I know that but these shortwaves are digging to Far East, and while it’s not to ideal/marginal, there’s still enough cold to get the job done, we just suck at getting well Timed digging
I don't like posting 200 hr op runs but that is much better to me. And yesterday's EPS looks good too. Haven't seen the 0z EPS. But I think this weekend outside the mtns is a lost cause.
@Myfrotho704_ ah now I see where you posted the 0z EPS above. It looks even better. If that pattern materializes and the southern stream remains active it seems like a matter of time as we get deeper into climo.
