Wintry December 23-26 2022 Winter Weather and Cold

When we dont have the cold air, we have the moisture. When we don't have the moisture, we have the cold air. Classic story in the South. Of course dry air kills our chances here....
Probably wishcasting, but I’m hoping that leading edge of precip in NW GA makes it here and moistens up the column ahead of the main area that comes later on. ?‍♂️

Looks like there’s a very weak sfc trough but I’m not sure that it’s doing much of anything here, maybe a little 85A1B561-7591-4C16-99D1-D7362845F84B.png
Nice look aloft though, stream of moist 500mb swlys and the forcing gets a boost from the weakening shortwave in ETN. This is driven by mid-upper levels primarily. Any sfc trough east of the mountains would be a boost.

I could definitely see a heavy but thin band of snow breakout past the mountains. One of those “if it lasted for 3 hours, I would’ve had 4 inches” type of bands. You get to enjoy it for 30 minutes to an hour and get a dusting to an inch and some what could’ve been lol

Favoring south of 85
I am renting just south of 85 and our new property is even more south. It was the only reservation I had. I literally had to stop and think if I wanted to buy it just because of that. Bahahahah. My husband was like wutttt. Don't be silly. Bahahahah. He has no idea how serious I was....:p:D

Trust me I understand exactly what you speak of. 85 in the Charlotte area seems to be the rain/snow line for winter. Lived in Mooresville which is very very comfortably in the snow.... now I'm in Concord and it's so PAINFUL to follow winter storms
