8 on the PWS. GSP hit 7, new Christmas Eve record
Went outside for a couple minutes. Started getting tears that froze. Nah just kidding, but I teared up heavily, I can’t take this type of cold, it’s so dry. lol. 9/-5, WC -4

I see Sundays hi of 40 now. That's gona feel like bathing suit weather. Chickens will be happy. If they are not popsicles this mornin. ? ?

I have folks close to me without power. We are running good here and I hope it continues.
Glad we installed ventless gas logs back in 08. They work great to regulate the temp in the house.
I think my bottom is going to be 8.1 lowest wind chill was -10.7 last night.
Time to check on the horses and chickens!

We’ve got ventless gas logs too. I worked all day trying to get them going but something is clogging the line. I’ve always had wood burning is this is new to me.

11.8 here in Lexington, SC. Was hoping for the single digits. Coldest since the morning of Jan 2nd, 2018 when it hit 10 with no snow on the ground.

Low of 0 and somehow I still have water!
My mom’s power is out in Simpsonville.
My mom and dad lost power yesterday in Stuart, VA about 10 am, I think. They have gas logs but I imagine their pipes took a hit.

I have a couple thermometers, one is digital and got down to 5 and the old time mercury thermometer that got down to 3 here. -13 WC as well. If only we had some snow on the ground
The glass on my storm door is frozen solid.
Looks like some busting to the low side.
Banner Elk had a forecast low of -5 but it looks like they made it to -9. Sugar Summit down to -16. (Overnight low was -18)

Busted big on our forecast this morning. We had a low forecast of 11 but only managed 18.

The lowest temperature recorded here at my location south of Raleigh was 11.3 degrees. This is easily the coldest air for the Christmas holidays I can remember since the 1983 and 1989 Artic outbreaks in Central North Carolina. The difference between the two years mentioned was that in 1989 there was the storm that brought blizzard conditions to the costal counties of Eastern North Carolina and measurable snow inland as far as Johnston County while the 1983 event was a dry cold much like this event.
A lot of stations up there in the -10’s.

My father in law is without power in Goldsboro as of this moment. A power outage is bad news anytime in today's world but even worse in sub freezing temperatures. It brings back memories of the December 2002 ice storm in Central North Carolina for me. I hope you kindred get their power restored soon.
Walked the dogs they wanted none of it lol. Holes in the yard looked like that above pic I don’t understand why, sure somebody does. Hand measured single digits barely with nearby PWS at 8-9F

City of Charlotte will be having rolling black outs this morning to prevent major long term damage. Looks like at lease half a million homes out in both NC/SC through Duke Energy not sure about Energy United and others.

6 degrees this morning in Lewisville. My parents lost power a little while ago, called and Duke energy said they are performing rolling blackouts that will last 15-30 minutes or longer.

Never got power back last night. Called Duke energy for an update and they said we have no information, Google red cross if your cold. My response was less than cheerful. We left though so in a warmer place for now. House was down in the 40s when I left but had kept a room warm for sleeping.

I'm tempted to run over to the cold spot by the train tracks to see if it is doing its usual cold spot stuff

5.7 was the low and still have water. I feel like I’ve been walking in a desert with the heat running so much. I can’t drink enough to not feel parched.
