Heat? Drought?18z GFS going to bring it!
A nice long range pattern. ❄Heat? Drought?
I have a feel that might be pushing it this year. Something tells me to have the grill ready for Christmas Day this year.Too many of those on the East Coast last few years. Except last year of course. I'd be fine with upper 30's/low 40's and upper teens low 20's at night.
Upgrading to looking betterI think I’ve got a fair to middlin shot at seeing some snow flakes on my way to campus on Monday
for your location only pretty muchView attachment 138449
Would be insane to get something like this in a crap pattern. Pants buster forsure
I’ll invite everyone upfor your location only pretty much
Yep. Whitetop, Burkes Garden, Mountain Lake, take your pick.View attachment 138449

Would be wild to have severe weather and snow from the same system. I'll take anything this early. We take what we can get.
From RAH:
Precipitation: Confidence is increasing that rainfall totals could
be in the 2-2.5 inch range by the end of the event, with anomalously
high PWATs of 1.4 to 1.6 inches. While there is still a Marginal
risk for isolated flash flooding, the system still appears fairly
progressive and training of storms are not anticipated. Best chances
for isolated flash flooding will generally be over the urban areas
and areas of poor drainage. Lastly, have introduced a slight chance
for a brief period of snow mixing in with the rain as the system
lifts out Sun night. Confidence is relatively low, but the chance is
there nonetheless. No impacts or accumulation expected.
Same here in Matthews ?Hmmm… GSP seems to be buying into the NAM some. They’ve added a chance of snow to my point forecast between 5-8am Monday morning.
Phase 7,8 are what we want correct?
Christmas of ‘87 was warm , very warm, and rainy! ???Yeah, my number one hope is not to have a warm/muggy Christmas.
Jan 88 and Feb 88 was pretty cold overall in what I rememberChristmas of ‘87 was warm , very warm, and rainy! ???

boardwide if you're north of I-20
I wanna see a boardwide snow from Houston to Jacksonville and everywhere points north. When's the last time that happened ?Well considering what we've seen the last few years it would be a big deal today ?
Yes it was. In fact if I remember correctly there was a severe weather outbreak across the south either on Christmas Day or the day afterChristmas of ‘87 was warm , very warm, and rainy! ???
This storm was one of the worst IP/ZR events in history for the southern half of Georgia, points well below Macon were out of power for an extensive amount of times. While there was no snowfall accumulation, it was still virtually a board wide storm in terms of frozen precipitation.boardwide if you're north of I-20
Not at all. As warm as Christmas 2015 was, the following month I remember tailgating before the NFC Championship game in Charlotte with a couple inches of snow on the ground from a decent storm a couple days earlierYes January 1988 had pretty close to a boardwide snowstorm
So a warm Christmas doesn't necessarily mean bad news for the rest of winter I guess
Someone else on here can probably correct me, but I would venture to say that February 1899 was probably the last storm that had both accumulating snow in Houston/Jacksonville/points north. February 2010 was defintiely the closest example in recent memory, but far SE GA (points east of Valdosta, south of Jesup) were shut out during that storm from any measurable snow. The ten year period from 1895-1905 was absolutely insane in terms of measurable snowfalls in Southern Georgia/North Florida.I wanna see a boardwide snow from Houston to Jacksonville and everywhere points north. When's the last time that happened ?
Snow from Houston to Jacksonville ? Take a miracle in todays climateI wanna see a boardwide snow from Houston to Jacksonville and everywhere points north. When's the last time that happened ?
Per Raleigh NWS. If it snows for 5-10 minutes and doesnt stick, ill have already out performed last season.
