Hour 72 on the euro. I start doing a play by play and maps around hour 96.

Probably should have specified further that it's a lobe of the tropospheric polar vortex, the usual capture & tug is harder to come by when the northern stream wave is out ahead of the southern stream disturbance and even if it's not out ahead of our southern stream wave phasing between the two isn't always a seamless transition, it can in many cases squelch the subtropical disturbance into oblivion resulting in a weaker s/w and storm if the northern branch wave had otherwise left it alone.

Both the southern and northern stream waves slowed down concurrently on this run compared to last night's 0z Euro thru 96 HR.

It would have been a bad thing for only one of the waves to slow down especially the southern stream one but this means we generally keep the relative timing of the waves compared to the previous euro run (so far) here which is a good thing to see.
