Wintry Dec 8-10th Winter Storm

Let’s not forget, this is just a wave in the sub tropical jet colliding with a stout airmass for early Dec. The northern stream comes in very late so it’s a dominant southern stream with a good Gulf tap. It’s not a 970 occluding inside the benchmark, maybe 995 before it exits stage right and some
backside enhancement once the northern Vort finally comes through on Monday. If those two would have hooked up perfectly, NESIS 4 for the interior MA and NE with 40” lollipops. SE would have been out of play, guaranteed. While the cold air is marginal, it’s still highly unusual for early December and this is about a perfect solution for winter weather in NE GA, upstate and western/central NC. Raleigh and Charlotte are the toughest to dial in at this very late stage, major pop centers.

Well its getting dicey here in Maggie Valley, NC. One of our cars is stuck down at Ghost Town and now the power is flickering. Snow has intensified immensely and only picking up steam. Double digits are immenent.

Something funny from the Blacksburg discussion:
"Something to keep in mind for Sunday... the snowfall rates may
approach 2-3 inches an hour. This will be aided by strong
forcing aloft with potential for slantwise convection and the
possibility for thunder-snow. If there is any, Jim C in Boone
will likely capture it on video... welcome to the CWA Jim. ;-)"
