Wintry Dec 8-10th Winter Storm

Storm definitely seems to be trended north a bit. The heaviest precip seems to be northwest of the Atlanta area when models had the heavy precip to the south of Atlanta. That massive blob of heavy stuff is moving northeast right towards the Carolinas....some folks are about to get crushed in a couple of hours or so.

Man I’m praying to see a changeover to snow every time I walk outside, would be ripping if we could changeover

This definitely isn't a huge shock to me, figured we'd have a sleet fest but maybe a little snow if anything at the onset, give it a few more hours and we'll see where we are. Expecting ice pellets to be the predominate p-type here.

From WRAL met Mike Maze.

Precipitation is growing slowly to the north and east with rain being seen over our southern counties. The radar is showing what looks like snow off to the west in the Triad but none of that is reaching the ground yet. The atmosphere will gradually saturate over the next hour or so and some light snow should be seen.

Well I just looked at the mesoscale maps and we had the 925 layer cooled. The 850s also shot colder and are near freezing across N GA. Changeover is imminent and can occur in the next hour. Might even see some snow.
How far south

Got some fatties falling now :weenie:
Yes. It’s ripping wet snow now :)
Heck yea, you will have to post some picture for us tomorrow. That’s cool!!
I am sitting at 37 degrees with dew point of 35. So close but yet so far away. But we can all look at this like the appetizer before the main course. I still think this winter we will get a big board wide hit like 1988 January storm.

I am unable to load my own pictures. Says a basic picture is too large.
