There’s actually a dip in the NAO value to lower negative in that timeframe so perhaps the blocking is slowing the flow down enough there to lock that high in place50/50 low hanging on. Nowhere for that high pressure to goView attachment 125639

Negative dews into SW VA..have mercy what a weenie run
Here’s an extremely classic look of a front end thump that turns into an ice storm for the CAD regions. Dews begin in the single digits and FGEN is smacking to start. 
Out in Lala land, but I can't wait to see where this goes for XMass.
Gefs coldest run yet for this weekend 
WAA front end thumps always tend to over preform so I’d take that look in a heart beat. But this will change tonight.

We usually don't get a pattern looking this good all winter. This winter is giving me 2010/2011 vibes with all the blocking showing up. Lets hope that's the theme all winter.

That might be the weeniest in the last decade… 3 storms around Christmas… that would be talked about for the next century

Moderately Strong +PNA ridge going up this run 
Can check the teleconnection numbers later, but this looks like a substantially low Arctic Oscillation right here
Ya gotta love that bagginess back into Baja Mexico. Give lots of credence to multiple southern stream systems similar to those on the deterministic runs.

The GEFS literally has it all. -EPO/-NAO/-AO/+PNA, a strong subtropical jet, nice 50-50 low, with a wave hanging back over the SW US

You can’t get better than this. This is the staple pattern for SE winter storms 
That is absolute eye candy. I love the western ridge coming in stronger each run.
