Absolutely love this trend. Connecting/ phasing some Arctic energy in Canada to our big cutoff means a stronger cutoff and and longer lasting deep cold low over the Eastern US-great lakes, this allows more Arctic cold air to funnel in as well 
I love looking at the 700mb temps to be able to see the general flow of the temperatures above and below a little better visually. You can see where this is going .. might even squish the next storm
