I can't say I blame you something about the J&J doesn't work for me

The new real world study published about Pfizer and moderna only drive home further that these are the winners. Any vaccine is better than no vaccine...that is true, but Moderna and Pfizer should be very available and those seeking out J&J may eventually do themselves a disservice.

I’m thinking J&J vaccinated individuals will require a booster before Moderna and Pfizer individuals, which will be recommended as post-vaccine trials continue and antibody titers are measured in these subjects. This bit is speculation on my part, but I can see it happening. I vaccinated my girlfriend and my twin brother with Moderna. I’m a strong believer in the mRNA technology and the efficacy of these vaccines standing up to variants vs J&J.

Also, as a COVID survivor, it’s not just about the hospitalization and death endpoint. We do not know yet what the long term complications of the covid virus crossing the blood brain barrier and infecting the brain is. Journals are publishing data on debilitating symptoms of long haulers (see the suicide of the Texas Roadhouse CEO due to debilitating tinnitus).

When experts say “100% effective against hospitalization and death,” they’re selling the vaccine to get folks vaccinated but this is missing the importance of developing symptoms and avoiding infection altogether. To me, that’s just as important, because you or your loved one could become a “long hauler” — even after vaccinated. I’m not recommending J&J to my loved ones if Moderna and Pfizer are options.

Thank you, for this information. I’m on the fence... 51% I’ll get the vaccine. I was wondering, like others which one to take. Initially, thought J&J because of the convenience of a one shot. Again, I appreciate the information coming from a health care provider. - Eric

Its funny you bring this point up, because every piece of literature out there says to not compare the 3 head to head, or even the 2 mRNA's to the Jansen... For someone who touts following the CDC's guidance, you're telling people on here to NOT follow their guidance in getting the J&J...

I'd just like to point out, that J&J vaccine is 74% effective against Asymptomatic infection. That's not solid beating of the 80% mRNA...

We also have more information about asymptomatic infections from the J&J trials because they included asymptomatic PCR testing and antibody testing. (Participants were tested for antibodies to a part of SARS-CoV-2 that was not the spike protein since the vaccine would induce antibodies to the spike protein.) The vaccine was found to be 74 percent effective against asymptomatic infection, similar to its protection against symptomatic infections.

J&J just is now getting distributed. People have a choice here. Why not pick a vaccine with superior clinical data? Any recommendations to get J&J is based on the “any vaccine is better than no vaccine” which I addressed in my post that it’s true. There’s clearly superior vaccines for covid 19 of you don’t understand that you aren’t reading the trials.

I’m not simply talking about hospitalization and death, I’m talking about preventing covid 19 infection, period. That was the basis of my post. The long term effects of covid 19 infection and what vaccines I believe offers the most protection.

Last I checked on my county's website, Cone Health's, or Novant's Vaccine website there isn't a drop to select your preferred shot... You select an appointment (if you can catch an opening) and you show up. It's like school lunch, you eat what they are serving.

The but followed by a negative completely invalidates what the positive 1st part of the sentence says. We're all old enough to know that when you use but... it completely invalidates the first part... I love you, but... I like your idea, but... You're cute, but... Any vaccine is better than no vaccine, but... You're doing yourself a disservice...

So bit of a line to park today at the vaccine center. It's good thing that the lines to vaccinate are longer than the lines at the testing center. I timed it at only 5 minutes from the time I checked in at the desk to the shot. Sitting for 15 minutes then I'm on my way home.

I hope the US can beat back the variants breaking out in the NE and Michigan soon. Will hopefully happen in the next month between vaccines + high number of prior infections. Israel had the UK variant and they are doing great now.
