But I'd only use the gloves and kits when I leave the house which wouldn't be often. I'd only need them when going to get essentials. Never mind I guess, I'd rather have them than not have them. Wish there was an emphasis on on producing more.
Remember those plants are probably shut down or going to be. Especially if made in China which most are.

Unfortunately it may be worth noting that many members of government, including those in all 3 branches, are over 70 and are among the highest risk category. They also tend to travel more and come into contact with more people than the average citizen. This also extends to local and state governments.

NC Gov just stated, starting tomorrow, he strongly urges all events with over 100 attendees be cancelled, including churches.... @Poimen

We already have an emergency meeting planned tomorrow to discuss this issue along with what to do with our daycare, which has ~20 employees and 100 children.

These are interesting days we are walking in.

So Gov Kemp is leaving it up to each school district to start closing tomorrow for 2 weeks. Just got a message from our school district that they are aware and are meeting and will make a decision this evening.

Well my college girls are coming home, Campbell University just cancelled classes tomorrow and starting Monday going online until April 6. Really hope this passes quick, my oldest is a senior what a sucky way to end your undergraduate studies.

My sister in law is in the same boat. She will receive her bachelors in May.

Don't think I saw it here, but March Madness is officially cancelled.

As well as all other Winter/Spring tournaments

NBA - cancelled
NCAA basketball tournament, aka March Madness - cancelled
MLB spring training - cancelled (regular season to be delayed)

If the N.C. Governor just made a statement that discourages meeting in groups over 100 people, I don’t see how local schools will stay in session. Almost every school has over 100 people.
Yeah and they almost immediately followed up his recommendation with a statement saying they don't have a recommendation to close schools at this time, but they did say that could change any minute.

I wonder if they close schools if they will "forgive" the days due to extraordinary circumstances? I know when areas are designated as a federal disaster area they do, you'd think they would have to, no way to make up all those days.

There’s no way they would be required to make up all of the days. Looks like some high schools will try to switch to digital learning. It gets tricky because not all students may have computer access and reliable internet.

While the federal government isn't exacting a nationwide quarantine, we're starting to see local governments and businesses making these decisions on a micro level. We're also seeing state gov decisions having a wider impact. Look at Ohio gov yesterday saying no fans should be at big gatherings, which forced the Dayton tourney site not to have fans, forcing no sites having fans (to eventually now no tourney based on other factors).

Disneyland will now be closing, but not Disney World yet. That's probably because of City of Anaheim banning large gatherings as of today.

Even if we don't have a nationwide quarantine formally declared, at this rate we might see a de facto quarantine very soon.

. In Alabama if the governor declares a state of emergency schools do not have to make up missed days.

I have a friend who works in a specialized medical facility that deals with diseases and immune issues... she said the White House has been in contact with them multiple times via teleconference for various plans regarding testing, what will happen soon, etc. She said that the White House is actually in the background strongly encouraging local leadership to press for these school closings, large events to be cancelled, etc. The reasoning behind it is they want states and the local level leadership to be making and announcing the decisions gradually so it doesn't create the same level of panic that it would if the government just outright said "we are locking everything down."

This example would definitely be a step in the right direction. I'm hoping to see many more examples very soon.

Has anybody really thought of what is going to happen to the almighty dollar after this runs it’s course? I mean just for example all of our major sports industries shutting down. Where is the revenue? How do you honor a player’s contract without concession sells and putting butts in seats? I mean that’s just one example. What the hell
Is really happening?
