Ok anyone else think that is "odd" that so few cases have shown in Russia? NOT being a conspiratist , but when one considers that two of the highest travel to/from couWHO-EN-W-LOGO.pngntries are China and Iran, you would expect to see many more cases

Maybe I’m crazy but I still don’t see this ending up being the crisis it’s being portrayed as. Social media I think is blowing this up and any dooms day prediction is being spotlighted and everyone is just buying into the hype. I think I’m the end we end up causing more harm then the virus itself. In a way the panic and craziness and everyone being so conscious of keeping clean and practicing safe procedures against the virus will be a huge factor in limiting the impact. But I feel there could have been a better way of getting that without all this panic.

I'm really struggling to understand the no big deal line of thinking. That seems to have a lot more basis in hope than in what we're observing in the actual world for most countries that are ahead of us right now.

I much prefer the basketball version of March Madness. Can I get a witness?

I am starting to hate the spring. So many crazy things have happened in the spring, and it isn't a good time for me personally.

We will know in 7-14 days how bad this is going to be, by now 500k-1 million people have been exposed in the US probably....so there is no stopping it, at best we can test like crazy and try to get people to self quarantine. I read several days ago that if the virus follows the script so to speak here as it has in other countries that with doubling etc they expected Washington St to see a ramp up in cases starting around Mar 22nd....with the rest of the country anywhere from 7-14 days behind them....so by the end of the month we will know whether this is not a big deal or if we did to little to late.

As a leader of an organization I am battling this line of thinking from some of our leaders; and then there are some on the complete opposite side.

I’m trying my best to lead us to walk the middle ground.

maybe, could be I’m suffering from that phycological deal where you think “oh it can’t happen here”. But when I think it logically through it just seems everyone is panicking more than necessary and creating more of a burden on the country and society then is warranted. Hopefully all this doesn’t have a long term impact on us.

Really depends on which countries we use as that basis. Do we go the way of Italy or perhaps Spain or Germany, Sweden, Switzerland ect. Or do we catch the middle such as France.

Germany is apparently testing like SK did, so we should get another good sample on asymptomatic and mild cases.

This is a slow motion 911. Two buildings falling is nothing compared to cities falling. I know we aren't there yet but we could have multiple Italy's in a week.

Went to costco today and immediately left there was a line to checkout that weaved it's way throughout the entire store. Overheard people saying they had been waiting an hour and a half to checkout.

France is just getting warmed up. My hope would be SK, but they're working hard to contain...so not an apples to apples comparison.

People are always going to overreact. That's just the way it goes. I'm less concerned about that than the actual economic stress and healthcare stress that I fear is coming.

I guess I don't understand what you logically think is going to be the outcome...I think there is a certain level of panic associated with this but it is based more on the unknown.....we really don't know how this is going to turn out.....and I guess different people have different criteria for what bad is. Ultimately this is going to be a trade off, what we do/don't do will increase or decrease the number of people that end up in serious condition or dead.

I look at it like this. if the let it run its course/ not a big deal and lets not harm the economy crowd are wrong then 10's or even 100's of thousands of people could die....that's a pretty big gamble, so really what you need to ask is how much of a impact to our economy and burden to society are you willing to accept in exchange for less people dying...

January 31 The President inacted travel restrictions to China while you were rooting foe him to be impeached.......too little too late?

Well the virus was already here by then so yeah I guess it was.....but that is not were he screwed up at, he spent the entire month of Feb telling everyone there was nothing to worry about and it was not going to be a problem....

Serious question: We have school closings, event closings, etc., how long until businesses shut their doors? Grocery, hardware, local bank branches, etc.,? Is that something that might happen or is that far fetched?

I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned or expressed any concern the daily late afternoon briefing from the white house was skipped today.

Well one daughter home from college the other one still there, with a fever....ugh
Her roommate had the flu, so good possibility that's the issue, still hate it for her. Goes to infirmary in the morning, will know more then. ?

Just thinking out loud with my simple country mind... I don’t believe in govt in every part of our lives, I can assure you of that. Again, thinking out loud so please don’t laugh. (NOT POLITICAL)

Now... Please help me think this through and maybe improve on the idea. Or make fun of me. LOL. I can handle it.

What part of govt literally (almost) touches our daily lives? Yeup... The U.S. Postal service.

When testing becomes available on a widespread basis, (protected) postal employee drop off test kit to every listed address including known residents. A simple swab perhaps. Return postage paid with the swab kit. (Or next day pickup) Those that test positive (including entire household) are required* to self quarantine for 10-14 days.

Or perhaps drive through test stations as some have suggested. IDK. Just trying to help I guess.

* = Don’t know how this would play out on a constitutional level. Voluntary perhaps?
I appreciate y’all. Just wanted to throw this out there.

Sincerely,
Eric

It would have to be voluntary, although I imagine most would not oppose being tested especially if they could test themselves. But if government wants to force testing, it becomes a very slippery slope

Here’s the jacked up thing around me. Kids are creating throw away SnapChat accounts and spreading rumors that our local hospital has tested two people but “aren’t releasing” the info. They’ve also spread rumors that two kids at a local high school have tested positive.

My daughter saw in, showed it to me, and was going to forward it until I told her not to. Warned her that if she does that without any proof and her name is attached to it she could be charged with a crime.

Not a good idea. That crap lives for three days on surfaces. How do you protect postal employees? My wife is a rural carrier.

They're trying to get their schools closed. No different than a false bomb threat, imo.

We need to start charging and taking people doing things like this to jail to set an example. Inciting a riot maybe? IDK.

That’s terrorism. Calling in a bomb threat gets them charged with making terroristic threats. I think that should happen with this. Problem is that they’re throw away accounts.
