Not sure how reliable this site is, but that is a little concerning for Florida.
South Carolina reports 1,949 new cases and 10 new deaths.
Mississippi reports 868 new cases and 19 new deaths.

This may be the wrong thread, but it’s related to Coronavirus. Are we getting a 2nd stimulus check ? I havnt heard about that much lately!?

Yeah, you definitely missed/forgot about it. Let me jog your memory because it is pretty easy to prove this was in fact said.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but you (& many others) liked the last post above here and arguably agreed with this very sentiment a few weeks ago. If you didn't then I'd like to see what yours and others thought processes were when it was pretty obvious even then that deaths lagged hospitalizations.
Of course, a few weeks ago I said on this very forum in response to this seemingly popular post from @NCSNOW that deaths lag case count increases and here we are with increasing deaths. Said reality certainly ruffled some feathers, but I'm not here to make everyone feel good about themselves, the reality here has been and will continue to be pretty harsh.
Cases don’t generally decline on weekends like deaths. Still, it’s really high, though.
I liked it because I was hopeful at the time that the death rate was dropping. But the numbers are the numbers. You can't say deaths are declining if the numbers are rising. That's what I was saying in my earlier post.

I believe they are lower today then yesterday. That’s good.
Sundays and Mondays are always very low compared to Tuesdays-Saturdays because of weekend effects, however.

It was easy to prove. It was the leading argument since mid-April against Coronavirus being a big deal. Any time anyone mentioned testing or % positive, it was always pushed that deaths will be near zero soon etc. Big talking point against masks, etc. Deaths lag cases so this was expected by some of us.

Even if that was true, that’s noise. Have to look at the trend. It’s like a hurricane’s wobble, with it being a weekend there’s no reason to believe that’s a start of a trend with the explosion in cases lately. A few hundred deaths more today than yesterday and the west coast reports well past midnight est.

There's a difference between being legitimately and reasonably hopeful in this situation and being just outright dishonest and willfully ignorant of the sequence of events that was and is continuing to unfold in an unfavorable fashion regarding deaths.
I'll be the first to admit, I've been exceptionally hostile of late in this forum because unlike most circumstances and crises, how you think about and react to covid-19 might actually be a matter of life or death for you, me, or someone we know, and thus it's unequivocally paramount in this situation that we set the record straight, get our ducks in a row, and get the facts right here.
Please, don't either of you feel as if I'm singling you out in particular because you are definitely far from being alone as there's a large subset of this very forum (largely conservatives (don't see this as political, it's just a very harsh fact of the matter)) who should probably seriously reevaluate how they've been approaching this crisis since this past spring & accept the fact that they've been incessantly pedaling absolute nonsense, conspiracy theories, baseless talking points, & cherry picked facts that provide false narratives, false hope, & a false sense of reality that makes covid-19 seem considerably less potent and serious than it really is. Only reason I've "called you out" in this case is because the question was raised and I answered the bell.

I’ve already lost patients to Covid, so that doesn’t make me feel too good seeing deaths increasing. I’ll feel better when positive % takes a nosedive and we have a vaccine.
I am at least hopeful more people are wearing masks. See a lot of folks doing it now in N.C., maybe the president donning his for video cameras makes others do the same
I don't honestly care if I get singled out or not. If I deserve it, then so be it. I am hopeful that the virus will become less potent over time. The CFR has certainly come down from where it seemed to be very early on, which is to be expected. I have never once advocated for not wearing masks or taking precautions, and I have chastised the government for not being better prepared and for the lack of initial response. All I was saying is that if deaths are going up and someone is saying they are going down, that should be extremely easy to validate. I don't read every post in these threads, so I'm sure I miss things.

No, you're right, clinging to every inkling of hope whether right or wrong, pedaling conspiracy theories about "successful" new cures and treatments, willfully supporting not wearing face masks in public and statewide shutdowns at the expense of "personal freedoms" and trying to achieve an unattainable sense of normalcy that you'll never see again in its previous form, certainly doesn't make you in any way shape or form part of the problem and I have no doubt that these actions esp wrt face masks, will contribute absolutely nothing to worsening the crisis.

But you 100% should care that how you think and react to the virus esp if your previous rationale was complete bs, because it definitely does affect not only yourself but those around you and it actually may be a matter of life or death for some (esp those that are more vulnerable). As for death factoids, they've always been extremely easy to validate and almost as easy to rationalize through the chain of events that happens with pandemics. Cases rises first then people after some amount of time (usually weeks), they either survive from the virus completely healthy, make it out alive with serious permanent complications (an overlooked part of this crisis), or die, thus deaths will lag case increases, that's just very basic logic. Expecting deaths to follow lock-in-step with cases is like turning the stove on in your kitchen underneath a pot of water and expecting it to immediately boil, it simply doesn't work that way and baffles me why some prematurely clung to the notion that the virus was "losing its punch" a few weeks ago and those people who did think this way really need to take a good look in the mirror and reevaluate how they're approaching this (of course this is only the latest example of nonsense being pedaled to support the idea this virus is somehow less significant than it really is)
As for the latter, I highly doubt you missed all of the aforementioned quoted postings considering your reaction(s) to at least one of them & subsequent responses in this thread.
I've been wearing my mask here in Texas. 105 degrees and a mask is pretty hot.

Sure. But I think my overall reaction to the virus has been satisfactory. I haven't been flippant or overly panicky, as far as I know.

The criticism was very far from main crux of my initial post anyway, and I don't want it to be seen as the primary pillar. I really just wanted to set the record straight regarding previous sentiment about covid-19's perceived potency in this forum a few weeks ago and desired to make sure it didn't get swept under the rug is all.
