What are the demographics of the cases and deaths? Of those hospitlized? What percentage of those that have tested positive have been hospitalized? What percentage of those have died? Just looking at total numbers doesn't give you the whole picture.
 
Oh **** it does look like Augusta is mandating masks based off the late news. Well, it's definitely good my mom bought some more masks, hopefully they're in soon.

I guess this might be unpopular but if I do go back to school this fall, I'll likely have to do hybrid (I've been leaning that way because I've been anticipating masks being mandated). I just know I'll have to because it's going to be a minute for me to adjust. I did an interview and masked up for that (I'm at the point where I don't think there's much cause here but I did it for experience because I want to be better for my next try if I can go back to school) and for the 15 minutes I had mine on, I lost my breath while talking for a second and had a headache. Well, maybe part of the reason I did was also thinking about what happened this morning with my mom's crazy family.
 
Not liking these numbers in Georgia. Our school district has given us 2 options, virtual academy or in school with no mask mandate. We haven’t pushed back our start date either, going back Aug 3. We have until this coming Monday night to make our decision and the district hasn’t even communicated any plans with parents. Our daughter is going into 7th and wants to go back, she wouldn’t be a bus rider so that helps alittle.

This really isn’t surprising at all, I remember many people just last week clinging onto the idea that Covid was “losing its punch” because death rates weren’t high, although it was pretty obvious even then, deaths will lag case increases.

Well the hubby is a diabetic and I see how schools and kids are petri dishes. I was grabbing a sandwich from firehouse yesterday, and overhead a guy saying to his co-worker while eating that he's planning on going in with 10 other families in his neighborhood and hiring a teacher as theirs. 6 - 8 k per family over 10 families and that teacher has a good salary.

Something to chew on...
 
NC reports 2,462 new cases, a daily record, as hospitalizations continue to trend up, with 1,093 hospitalizations today, an increase from 760 on 6/12.

Unfortunately, as expected from premature reopening and people not taking this seriously (including believing and promulgating conspiracy theories about not wearing masks), hospitals are starting to exceed capacity in perts of the US, the latest being Houston, TX. The death rate will increase substantially as medical supplies become increasingly more scarce.

Houston is also a very underserved area and has a large minority population. Along with Florida I can see it becoming scary wrt death rates. This is truly sad to see and it was preventable.

I wonder why other states don’t do this...Glenwood South in downtown Raleigh has the food permit bars in full swing. It doesn’t look any different, people are drinking and not ordering any food...staying there long hours to drink only. It seems it defeats the purpose of closing bars. It would however be devastating if the sardine-packed bars were back, don’t get me wrong, but these faux restaurants operating like makeshift night clubs is a loophole.

Cooper owns this screw up. We started pages 1 and 2 when we never met the criteria and still had rising cases.

Our biggest hope is in how much doctors have learned on treatment options. Death toll would get scary if we had this kind of explosion at the beginning of all this stuff.

Just don't lie to yourself and think it's going away or getting better while the deaths, hospitalizations, and cases keep going up. The fact the deaths bottomed out and are now increasing again should tell people we need to stop taking this lightly.

Never said it would go away. Most people are wearing mask now so we will see if the whole mask wearing actually helps. I just like to look at the positives not not the negative. Most people are surviving and are not going to die. That’s a good thing.
 
Most people still have to go to work and go out to stores. Can’t be scared and stay locked up forever. My family is still going to Florida Saturday. We are making precautions. We are getting groceries before we leave, got mask, not going out to eat. We will be on the beach, at the pool and I’ll play some golf. No bars, stores or attractions. All you can do is be as safe as you can but if it’s your time to go you can’t stop it. That’s how I feel.
 
Kinda glad I never got this virus or was asymptomatic when I was taking care of my parents/caught my grandpa mid fall from his covid related stroke, not sayin I’m not worried Becuase it’s very possible to get it twice, but I at least know it probably wouldn’t be very severe, I would say this, the process/quarantine and time after is extremely stressful
