I highly doubt the NG will be patrolling the streets.
Correct first step is NG to patrol drive through testing at hospitals or at Walmart. If police are overwhelmed then the NG will patrol the streets in step two. According to my employer he said for all employees to be patient and don’t break any curfew hours just because we have emergency papers doesn’t mean we can go just anywhere.

You can kind of see where community spread is setting up in Jefferson, Lee, Madison, and Shelby counties.

What is curious is not one of the actors/sports stars has suffered a serious enough case to be hospitalized.
You almost wonder if it has a counterintuitive effect. People see all these famous people diagnosed and get through it fine and they think the virus isn’t actually that dangerous.

Has China successfully restarted their economy and lifted lockdown restrictions? Haven't seen any updates.

So, is NC issuing a Shelter in Place or lockdown? Reading a lot of conflicting reports.
Nothing has been issued yet, there is no official word, just lots of speculation based off of preparations... hopefully we know for sure in next 30 mins or so

Hopefully he will not lift the restrictions at the end of 15 days. Talk about mixed messages! That would be sending the wrong signal. Trump finally has gotten really serious over the 7-10 days or so after having downplayed it for so long. Listen to Dr. Fauci and others who are much more qualified to make this decision. Don’t be wishy washy and go back in the other direction, please! We need to flatten the curve.

The anti malaria med and others are going to need more time to trial it before it can be approved for this.
He is entertaining the possibility that congress will not pass the legislation. That's why he is talking about lifting restrictions. If they cannot reach a deal, then he will have no choice but to let it happen. This is solely in the hands of congress.

atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms told the city council on Monday that she is ready to issue a stay-at-home order, but has been asked by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to hold off until his 5 p.m. press conference.

As the coronavirus continues to threaten public health, states and cities across the country have issued “stay-at-home” or “shelter-in-place” orders.

WTF - CNN just said trump is considering easing up on the social distancing restricting as early as next week yet we now have state after state issuing shelter in place

I have no idea. Seems news outta that country has been scarce. Like Russia.
A friend on facebook posts updates from a missionary living in Wuhan and they have definitely not let them out yet. They've been locked down for over 60 days and are just now getting some freedoms but only allowed to leave for supplies.

Maybe he is seeing the reports showing the economic collapse into a depression will be far worse than this virus if Americans does not go back to work.

This appears to suggest that he himself will be issuing a statewide order, but who knows? I have been confused as to how GA officials have handled this thus far.....

Trump says lots of things. Doesn’t mean he means it. Or maybe he does.

We survived years of a great depression years of WW2, Vietnam and we will survive this.
We will survive but at what cost? Also remember today’s times are much different from those days. We have more people to feed and more violent offenders. Many more guns available. Also much more drug users. What happens when people who use drugs are more desperate. My point is if society IF comes apart it will be much more cruel than back in depression days.

NC

Schools closed till May 15
Barber shops closed
whats the last scheduled day of school for most NC schools?

Senate holding a procedural vote at 130 on the stimulus package . I bet the democrats block it again as they said they need more time but are committed to getting something done within the next 24 hours

Possibly Kemp was waiting to see how well (or how poorly) municipalities and counties were handling it - which is how things normally work in emergency management, since local authorities don't need a governor dictating one-size-fits-all solutions for transient events.

But for an unprecedented global pandemic, the operating manual has to be thrown out and written anew.

Yep, mixed messages. We're talking about this in the political thread.

All valid points and why the 2md amendment is now being viewed as crucial. Gun sales are through the roof.

All of those you listed are valid concerns. If you haven't thought about the 2nd amendment by now then I can assure it's a tremendous asset.

Starving hungry violent drug addicts can come to my neck of the woods acting crazy if they want. Me and many others in my neighborhood are prepared with a legal 2nd amendment response.
