Small businesses are already being affected as well as people who live paycheck to paycheck. Would you rather have the hospitals at capacity? Would you rather see 100,000+ people die? Sorry, the positives from a nationwide lockdown outweigh the negatives. There is just no argument. The economy will eventually recover. Dead people can't.
You realize that some of these people that own these business or people living paycheck to paycheck are not going to be able to afford food or shelter? They are going to be just as bad off

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you think 100,000 compared to millions losing their jobs and having civil unrest is worth the sacrifice. No way I agree.

Germany must be doing crazy testing, up to almost 7200 confirmed. Going up a couple hundred every few hours. If Germany is there, just how many cases do we actually have?

Rumors from a police officer I know is more than likely in 72 hours or less all non essential businesses in GA will be forced to close. Only grocery, pharmacy and doctors offices will be open.

I'm guessing our trip to La Fayette, GA that's around Easter and my grandma's birthday is starting to look like it's in very serious doubt. We can't go if hotels are going to be closed and if they're going to close everything except for essential business they're going to be closed and I'm feeling like it won't just be for March.

Luckily we don't have reservations (this town is small enough that you don't have to make arrangements too far in advance, we can reserve a room basically a week in advance and up and go when we want), but that will stink that we can't go.

Not really related to the point of the thread but it sounds like MLB keeps pushing back their projected start time... I honestly think they could try to shoot to start in late May but the latest is they think July 4th at best. Sheesh although I like it a heck of a lot of my entertainment might be watching true crime stuff for a very long time.

GA confirmed case timeline:

3/13 42
3/14 66; increase of 24
3/15 99; increase of 33
3/16 121; increase of 22

A key in trying to predict the peak is to look for increases to decrease or in calculus terms, a decrease in the slope of the curve, which is a decrease in the derivative. We'll need to see at least several days in a row of a decrease in the derivative to have enough statistical credibility to suspect a peak may be near.

Dude, sorry life is more valuable than anything else. Again with the hyperbole. IF the government can agree on some sort of economic stimulus package, millions won't lose their jobs and I hate to say, this might be one of these instances where the US government might need to enact Martial Law.

You have much more faith in govt than I do. Did you see this mess we’re already in? Did you see the stock market going this low already? Hopefully your blinders are right

Yeah, I could see this from a mile away. Now did they do enough in time to get ahead of it now or were they too reactionary? If the former, then people will complain they did too much but better that than saying we didn't do enough in the end. Saying this is going to be the end of the US is just ridiculous.

I hope you’re right because my wife is not working for the next two weeks and not getting paid so if the government doesn’t help would you be willing to send me some money for her?

I’m not saying it’s the into America but it definitely will change the landscape. Since you saw how this was going to happen from a mile away what is going to happen from here on out?

People like you are going to complain that the government did too much or not enough depending if you go broke or know someone who gets very sick. That is what's going to happen.

You do know unemployed people can get unemployment right?
I was unemployed for a while last summer, and the monthly check would have almost made a dent in the monthly insurance premium I would have had to pay for family coverage. Oh, and the duration of unemployment was quite short.

We can try to brush it aside, but the impacts to the US economy are going to be widespread and devastating. It's going to take a very long time for many individuals to get back on their feet, unless government steps up in a very big way. Many businesses will never recover.

Yep, the very people that are the reason places are having to force shutdowns as it is anyway.

I have built up enough with my family that I don’t need to worry for a little while. All I’m saying is Many in America do not have that luxury. Do I believe America will collapse no. But I also don’t believe America is invincible. God knows I hope this is over real soon. We already have enough people in the world going hungry and homeless. I just hope it doesn’t lead to more of that. That’s all I’m saying. Sorry if people don’t believe that’s a real possibility

FEMA explains what you should do before an earthquake happens and when it occurs in an animated video called "When The Earth Shakes." BY FEMA
At least five earthquakes reaching up to 2.4 magnitude rattled the Carolinas and Tennessee within 24 hours, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The other quakes ranged from 1.7 to 2.2 magnitude, according to the USGS.

The series of quakes began around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in Mulberry, North Carolina, the USGS reported. More followed over the next several hours, with the most recent one striking around 8 a.m. Monday.

Too many still aren't listening. This is a national emergency and it's not going away just because it has to or the economy will suffer

It’s going away when 90s and humidity kills it off naturally. Then it probably re-emerge in October/November

I put the odds of a lockdown this week at about 90%. How many times are we going to have to watch "the officials" play catch-up before we trust our own good sense about how things are going to play out?

Of course they're going to deny a lockdown until they announce it. And they're going to announce it at some point.
Yep this is a constantly moving target and you have to know given the lack of testing + incubation period + many who do not want to heed government advice and quarantine that total lockdown needs to be implemented asap because the total number of observed cases thus far is weeks behind reality

I am not one of those that’s are not going to complain because I’m a hard-working individual. All I’m saying is there is no way the government can take care of everyone and everything by bailing them out

this is a dangerous assumption. The heat and humidity may slow down the spread but there isn’t any credible evidence that heat and humidity will stop this virus. It’s extremely contagious.

We have plenty of visual on the countries ahead of us in the curve. We can watch what's happening there and get a sense of where we are heading both in cases and responses.

It does appear to be about over in China. There is a obvious pattern here.
