I respect that! I used to get accused of throwing my degrees in people's face, but that has never been my intention. In fact, I honestly and sincerely couldn't even tell you where my degrees are - I threw them in a drawer somewhere because honestly, they don't mean anything to me. Just a means to an end.

I always said I learned 80% of everything I know about meteorology outside the university - maybe that just means I'm not that smart! But in all seriousness, when I was just getting going down the road, one of my closest friends was not going to school for meteorology and for many years was more knowledgeable than I was just by constantly studying the models and tracking storms and talking to anyone he could get in touch with including NWS forecasters and Greg Fishel. We went to a SkyWarn training class together and talked to the NWS RAH Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the time - it was definitely a different perspective for me to see how much you could learn without going to college.
 
Well the overnight CFS was fun to look at. It showed many winter threats going all the way into early February. I absolutely do not believe the details; but by it showing many fantasy events, just maybe one storm will work out for each of us on the board.

Really is no reason in thinking we will get a winter storm if the models show one more than 7 days out. If one pops up on the models inside 7 days then maybe we have a chance. Anything else is just a lie.

i had a wonderful time playing a round at royal new kent yesterday outside richmond, a strantz design, same fellow who designed tobacco road. personally i think that some of the blind shots are a little tacky but I still had a ton of fun. it sure beats any lame fazio track. i missed two birdies inside 4 feet and the korean couple i was playing with, through broken english, would smile at me and say "ah no birdie for you!". you can only laugh. the cold did moderate some but it certainly makes me sad that i have no idea when i can get out there again, my threshold for playing is generally "43 degrees and above"

Not saying it will or won’t snow in the next 2-3 weeks, but to all those who say no, please tell us the low temp over the same timeframe! How cold will it get in y’all’s infinite wisdom? Not directed solely at you smast. Just the last comment I saw with the same attitude!

Isn't that already happening? I saw that the CFS was being pulled out earlier.

You know the state of the weather world when you start seeing things like the CFS, the Spire, the KMA, and the geographixtron 1000 posted with regularity.
 
Ensemble support loss is what made me lose a lot of interest in the potential.

Not saying it won't come back, but if we take the classic middle of the road of the Euro and GFS, the energy hangs back and the phase just won't do it for us.

I'm with Webber. I'd like to see the trend reverse and ensembles come back around.

We made the threads because everything was becoming confusing in the main pattern thread.

They were definitely early though. Just thought it'd be easier to separate the different periods.

some will learn quickly when the atmosphere rains itself out twice within the same week it’s gonna lead to dry cold for some time. You believe what you wanna believe but I’ve been doing this for many many years
