These model runs keep getting more and more ridiculous. 500mb anomaly scale is maxed out on TT. Ice age stuff
It is even colder after that. All-time record cold in fact. If it happened several states would have their coldest temp in recorded history. -15 here would be 10+ degrees lower than anything I have ever seen. This not cold enough? View attachment 157196
Most people cannot afford to be this well prepared though. Cold like this will be devastating here in the southeast. This would make Helene look like a picnic.I want to see some day after tomorrow stuff. I got all my heaters, wood, gas, generators all ready and plenty of extra pipes to replace the busted ones. I want to make up for all the last 40 years thst we have missed out on the cold and snow just by a few degrees that would of been feet of snow. Bring it. Let's get it on.

Say goodbye to your gardenia, camellia, magnolia, crepe myrtle etc … even your pine trees will die back as this is beyond their limit and you’ll have die backIt is even colder after that. We did good in Jan 2022 (6+) but that is an outlier as of lateMe and you both are about 15-20 miles too far south for real snow since 2014. Lately you need to be from Pickens, across the GSP area, over to Gaffney. Anderson, Fountain Inn, Jonesville and Woodruff have not been getting anything but scraps from the bigger storms.
I keep waiting for the GFS to spit out an Orlando snowstorm.
Luckily with the cold that these models are showing, we have around 30 degrees to play with. It's almost never as cold as the models advertise. I'm sure it's going to get cold, but I wouldn't buy into any of the extreme temperatures that it's showing.
What about a complete bust and being blanked again. We would talk about that for 50 years.I say bring it. Bring it all. Ice, snow, cold, tree trunk snapping weather. I don’t even care any more. Give us something to talk about for the next 50 years. Whatever that may be
Hey you said whatever that may be lolWhat about a complete bust and being blanked again. We would talk about that for 50 years.
we’ve got enough of those to talk about. Let’s end this curse once and for allWhat about a complete bust and being blanked again. We would talk about that for 50 years.
Yeah, but the superstorm also caused billions in damage and killed 270 people… more than most of our canesSo doom and gloom by some. Hell, the Blizzard of 93 was cold after the snow fell and no power for days.
What did the people do? Well, here is a hint. There was a baby boom 9 months later. People find ways to stay warm and that's a good one!
That was mostly sleet over here.We did good in Jan 2022 (6+) but that is an outlier as of late
10 to 15 above is in the cards though, with 28-33 or so for highs. Cold, but not the really dangerous stuff. It's almost never as cold as the models advertise. I'm sure it's going to get cold, but I wouldn't buy into any of the extreme temperatures that it's showing.
Yes that is certainly very possible.10 to 15 above is in the cards though, with 28-33 or so for highs. Cold, but not the really dangerous stuff.
We just got that back in September.I say bring it. Bring it all. Ice, snow, cold, tree trunk snapping weather. I don’t even care any more. Give us something to talk about for the next 50 years. Whatever that may be
By my count rdu has 15 days with highs below 20 in it's recorded history. Before we start getting hysterical about all life ceasing to exist let's think about what we are saying in a realistic context.
You are in luck! This isn't a blizzard although I would not mind that at all. Not a fan of 'canes and tornadoes, I will give you that. They are fascinating but I love winter storms.Yeah, but the superstorm also caused billions in damage and killed 270 people… more than most of our canes
On This Day: The 1993 Storm of the Century
In March 1993, the Storm of the Century struck the U.S. East Coast, claiming more than 270 lives and causing billions of dollars in damage.www.ncei.noaa.gov
True but it would have a huge impact, feb 2021 was pretty hard hitting for example with real damage and lives lost . It doesn’t help we have people in tents , campers and tiny homes in the mountains rnYou are in luck! This isn't a blizzard although I would not mind that at all. Missed us by a proverbial eyelash, I know. I have donated to those folks and they weigh heavily on my mind.True but it would have a huge impact, feb 2021 was pretty hard hitting for example with real damage and lives lost . Need consistent runs from multiple models under 240 hours to be confident but the hell with it. I’m all in too! It has been years after all.
I’m definitely considering buying stock. And by buying stock I mean all the toilet paper at the grocery store. And about 17 jugs of gas. I’m all in boys.
I’m going to pick up some de icer fluid and antifreeze tomorrow just in case. It’ll get used either way.I’m definitely considering buying stock. And by buying stock I mean all the toilet paper at the grocery store. And about 17 jugs of gas. I’m all in boys.
