Misc Cold Season Complaining

Just hard for me to get truly excited when the threats for my area are continuously post 200-240. I know we are entering a great pattern but I’ve been chasing this ghost since 2017. Y’all know I m a big weenie and I hope this is it. Let’s just get it closer please

I fully understand that virtually everyone on here is so snow deprived right now, but it's also important to remember with this potential upcoming pattern that just because one solution works for someone and doesn't for another person doesn't necessarily make said solution "bad." For example, a suppressed storm would not a horrible situation at all for my location and clearly would not be ideal at all for other areas of the region. The same analogy can be used for other scenarios that seemingly only favor specific areas over others. I certainly hope that we all can score, this definitely looks to be the best chance in quite some time.

This is exactly why I think the board should be split up by locations. Cause a lot of Times the NC people are only Talking about NC but yet the Upstate SC and or GA folks think they are involved in that too. They are way more NC folks in here than anyone else. They should have their own section to discuss their Locations and SC/GA folks have their section to discuss their Locations

Some of you rich people should go up to a mid-Atlantic port and take a cruise down to the Bahamas during this time period. That would be a blast.

This comes up every year and to me is a terrible idea. I think the demographics of people represented here are spot on. The folks posting to our north and west give great insight into what is upstream during actual events and the info we provide the Carolina posters can do the same. I think the Carolina Mets do a great job of including our region in their discussions as well.

To each their own, Agree to disagree

Same reason they split up Easternwx into sub-forums in Americanwx.

If I get pipe busting cold without the snow for the third winter in a row then I’m quitting. I NEED the snow.
Yep no need to be extremely cold with nothing to show for it. NW winds only benefit the mountains and very few clippers have done much anywhere else.

Yeah I'm not really excited about possibly going below zero again. I mean yes it did snow here both times since 2021 but in both cases the storm was eaten up by dry air and was nothing close to the potential it had. If you want snow it's really not good usually

Other times have been bone dry here

Yeah. That's why if you wait long enough you will see tumbleweeds blowing around over there. Not a lot of interaction happening which seems important for a discussion forum.
Yeah, true for the SE forum. But i'm far enough North i still check out the MA forum. Covers down to Central VA.

I’m irrationally concerned the ensembles aren’t showing higher snow means. They are also a mix of like 5 different windows/storms with none of them particularly standing out.

On the bright side, it looks like the odds of at least getting a few flakes and/or a novelty trackable event is extremely high.
I feel a little better now...lol

Nothing like logging on and reading 10 pages of Glory to catch up. Been to long since thats happened.
These ensemble means at 2m and Snow accums are mouth watering. Hope folks grasp how out of the ordinary at these lead times this is. You will wait another decade+ to witness these runs like this again.

5 new pages in the disco thread. Let me park this car real quick

Lol I woke up to multiple pages in the main thread and was like, Finally!

The all important OPI (overnight posting index) has increased to levels we haven't seen in a few years. I extrapolate a 25% of snow. Lol.

Best overall pattern upcoming I can remember if it verifies, and I'm pretty excited. Tempering my enthusiasm though, as it's still so far away and a lot could change. And I still get the vibe on the means that it's a very northern stream clipper heavy period, considering the trough is still pretty far east. Hopefully we can keep tugging it west another 200 miles or so.
