Misc Cold Season Complaining

I’m going down in the ship with the GFS! All hail the King!

I forgot to enter the forecast contest, but I have no idea what to expect at this point, anyways.

There's no reason to think the GFS (which isn't CAM) would outperform the CAMs that are picking up on the Himalayas of moisture transport disruption out in the Gulf. Just gotta hope the NE fetch from Moyock, NC inland is more robust than expected I guess.

I don’t disagree, I’m just huffing the best model left. 😂

Radar looks like dog crap. And to think, 6 days ago the Euro had at least 3 runs in a row showing at least 11” here. Goes to show 6 days out or more, it’s dang near pointless to look at them for anything more than trends/patterns/possibilities. Even the best model in the world takes numerous runs/solutions before it’s going to settle, sometimes it never does.

Also, it blows my mind how all these different weather apps basically took our addiction of looking at weather models and simplified it into words on an app. “If we tell them it’s going to snow a foot 7 days from now, they’ll come back checking the app hundreds of times over the next 150 hours to make sure they’re still getting snow, and little by little we decrease the totals until they get no snow.” Brilliant stuff.

tbh idk why we are even under an advisory

The high temps snuck up on me honestly, I thought we were going to be solidly in the 20s as of a day or two ago. Somehow we snuck into the mid 30s. It would take some good rates to get us down enough to accumulate on the roads which we're not going to get. Yeah it's just a complete non-issue today for our back yard imo; even if we did have any qpf.

I think I've read some variation of "this event is gonna be a bust" literally twenty times in the last hour or two. Trust me I get being pessimistic/disappointed, I really do but it's getting a bit excessive lol

I guess now my question how did these dudes on tv sniff out the not only no qpf which even we saw ... but the too warm at surface starting late Mon night ? Like what did they look at that we didnt to nail that when NOTHING showed that? For learning purposes

How is it always snowing in Richmond? Suppressed system, Gulf Coast convection, lack of phasing, no moisture feed, etc. and it still snows there like butter.

Something I've done multiple times already when tracking this storm and other storms this season is I just completely try to focus on anything not weather related to decompress and distract myself for even just a couple of hours whenever disappointment gets to me. I feel like a lot of ppl could use this tip rn lol.

Take a step back, take a nap, go on a walk, ect.

For this system I really just didn't allow myself to get very excited, no matter what the models showed, because they are wrong 95% of the time. I barely paid attention outside of two days out, other than being aware there might be a storm.

Yea, once I let go about yesterday at 4AM and realized this one simply wasnt gonna come back to us i started having more fun in here and less being bitter at eastern posters ect. I also finally went back on my meds after 3.5 weeks off so that prob helped 😂 LOL ..... I do think our corridor will have 1-2 chances more before Conference tourneys start for college basketball. IDK if itl be ICE or Snow but we will have something to track.

I am hurting for those who literally were being printed 6-10+ just a couple of days ago and now are squinting for a flurry. These models are just piss poor all of the time it seems like, no matter the weather. I hope many of you see some good snow today and will hold out hope for a late Feb or early March special, but I am about ready to turn the page to springtime and turkey hunting.

Let's just bring on the 80's and late day storms. Cold and dry is just awful. I think our big story this year will be drought though and later on heat. This year is going to be a lot like 2007.

Major winter precip in upstate SC and most of the Charlotte is done, maybe forever.

Well not only is the upstate dry, its not even cold. My low was 31.5 but woke up to 41 degrees. Even if I had some qpf it would be a warmer rain that I had last week. Give me "ways to fail twice at the same time for a thousand Alex."

Here is a perfect depiction of what NEGA and the upstate have to face. One should be able to draw a line from Rome Ga over to Sumter SC with the watches but we see what happens. I guess Sumter to FLO to MYB is now the snow capital of the state with CHS getting an occasional coastal to work out for them. Never thought I would routinely lose out on snow to those areas but he we are.
