Yea, its honestly sorta wild how many people are in here, but want to poo poo all over any potential storm discussion. Like dang guys, it's a weather forum, what else do you expect?I remember the days where we would track a potential and be positive about it and nobody would get speared for being positive even if it failed. Those were the days. NE bomb baby MA event only RIP
Sheesh. AI with a Molly whopper. New England paste bomb weenies in shambles
They just lost the graphcast so add that in there. Pangu also. There losing the AI models slowly. But I’d generally still be more interesting in the ens esp the EPSI wonder how they feel having every other model in their camp EXCEPT the AI?![]()

Let's be honest, this has been done with every model out there (especially the newest, everytime). It's part of the weather discussion imhoI'd just like to say that I personally dislike the AI models because every single run of them that shows snow or something, it's a complete debate on how accurate or not it is for every single run.
I selfishly want it to be completely wrong so the repetitive "how good was/is it" part goes away with every model run.

I’ve been wanting to start it for a while but haven’t had time. Looks and sounds very good.Y’all seen the American Primeval series on Netflix? That one is tuf
Yeah that's the part I don't get. It can't possibly be that hard to make better maps, especially if these models are meant to be next generation tools.I think the best part about the "great AI model" is that they can't even be bothered to make decent maps for it. Hell, in fact, most of their maps for their whole suite suck. Imagine spending so much money and saying "okay, these maps are the best we can do."
That won't happen we'll be cold, wet and miserable until April and still only have a dusting of snow to show for itThe winter weather threat is slipping away for sure. I'm hoping we just stay in the 70's from here on out and get some rain.
If you think 50-60 is coldThat won't happen we'll be cold, wet and miserable until April and still only have a dusting of snow to show for it
It's not slipping. If anything it looks like things are tightening up on a jackpot for Northern NC/Southern VA. Still a long ways to go, but it's about the best look you could hope for if you live in that area.I don’t understand the mentality that the threat is slipping? It’s tenuous but it’s always been tenuous. Granted, it definitely strikes me as more of a NC/northward-centric threat at this point.
The historic Gulf Coast Blizzard of January gives me a little hope that we don’t lose this one to the north (that one verified south compared to most modeling in the LR).
Rain and 50s certainly suck in March. If you think 50-60 is cold
Well I'm sure there will be way more 70s than 50s in MarchRain and 50s certainly suck in March.
The type of cold on that storm was obscene vs marginal at best this one is showing so far. In fact, that storm was extremely far south and the track never did come north. This one is pumping the SE ridge a lot lot more. The last one we were begging for any kind of riding at all vs complete suppression. We missed the phase and what could have been a historic winter storm ended up in a novelty event predominantly northern stream driven.I don’t understand the mentality that the threat is slipping? It’s tenuous but it’s always been tenuous. Granted, it definitely strikes me as more of a NC/northward-centric threat at this point. I’d certainly feel better if I were in the DMV area.

Bro you jinxing it stop … unless you want 50s then keep goin!Well I'm sure there will be way more 70s than 50s in March
I have NEVER for the life of me why anyone would wish for an Ice Storm. To me that is as Stupid as one can getIt does seem some are hoping for an ice storm instead of rain. This is a scenario where some places could get a substantial icing, so id be careful with those wishes, unless you're okay off grid for a bit.
I don't have intricate maps, but one would think that the Icon would have been a disaster as the heavier precipitation got going, and one would hope switching to rain for most.
I mean, I get the whole excitement about different/rare weather, but man I don't like the way those heights pump on some of these runs and I definitely don't like maps, by paid services, that output ZR as snow and get everyone confused.I have NEVER for the life of me why anyone would wish for an Ice Storm. Agree They are not always depicted as Snow, And folks think they are looking at big totals of snow when it's sig ice!I mean, I get the whole excitement about different/rare weather, but man I don't like the way those heights pump on some of these runs and I definitely don't like maps, by paid services, that output ZR as snow and get everyone confused.
