Misc Cold Season Complaining

New Orleans, Houston and parts of Florida is just gonna casually get potentially 4"+ of snow while Charlotte hasn't seen more than 2 inches since January 2018 lol.

I feel like this is God himself trying to torture me

I ranted about that yesterday on FB..had a woman reply shed lived here 39 years and never seen single digits...lol
77 we had single digits and 85 we had multiple nights at 3-5 degrees at my house. Was -7 in mountain rest in 85 and Ceasars Head got down to like -19.
And i know weve had other nights since then that had gotten to 9 or 10 for a low. Its so ridiculous the way they media hype crap now!
 
I gotta say, the biggest punch in the gut is going to be the Euro having been too wet for several runs.

I kinda knew the CMC was going to be out to lunch but the Euro did not need to show that run with 3-4 inches of snow.

Yeah I know it's crazy I mean an Arctic Blast like they were talking about with "Pipe Busting" cold you would see low Teens to single Digits and highs not getting OT of the 20s. And even though some models were showing that, 9/10 times those numbers are going to moderate before go time. And it's looking like it is going to this time too. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hit mid 30s today
 
I have a friend who lives in Myrtle ...knows NOTHING about the weather. I told him Thursday hed see snow. "Yea right ive been here 4yrs and ive seen flurries, no idc what your stupid computers say or the idiot on tv theyre never right anyway. Its supposed to be 63 degrees on Sunday its not gonna turn around and snow on Tuesday dummy" Attempted to explain that has nothing to do with it. "Im telling you its not gonna snow, if it does its too warm to stick" He grew up in Summersville WV and literally moved to SC to leave winter wx, thats the ---- that pisses me off..... half the ppl that will score Tomm are ppl who made life decisions to get away from snow. lol

Did January 2018 not make single digits there?
 
This winter will mark RDUs worst 3 year stretch for snow going back 130+ years...and yeah the earth is getting warmer but it's about to snow 6-8" along the gulf coast. So a lot of this is just bad luck.

Below is the other worst 3 year stretches.

If winter ended today I’d have to give it an A+. It’s been very cold and I saw a trace of snow fall. We’ve been tracking fantasy storms since December. I’ve come to terms that that’s about as good as it gets around here now. We’ll miss this one in 10 years I think.

We have to post these...because next year when the CMC is showing a day 5 blizzard we can come back to that post to remind us. But...nobody will listen...we will say the CMC is on to something, it's been the most consistent. Is the AI really that good a model when it's showing nothing.

Agree, count me guilty here. At this point, I don’t think it’s the most important model, but once it ‘catches’ a storms behavior and doesn’t let go of that idea, we should all pay close attention.

I've lived here all my life,
Mid 50's.
This happens occasionally!
I'd say less than once a decade.
Missing storms South of 85.
To the coast is less common but it also occurs!
That's why I don't automatically dismiss Suppression,
Of course we get the NW the vast majority of the time but it's not 100% fail proof!
