Honestly, I think the Euro AND EPS head fake is what took me for a ride. Made a full on fool out of myself because I was sure that 00z data ingest would hold seeing as how we were inside D5. I mean what do you take away from that? Even ECMWF and EPS agreement inside D5 is useless. Not really sure what you do with that. The EPS has been just about as bad as the GEFS with this event and the only thing worse is the CMC and GEPS. Nothing left other than the stupid EC AI, which wasn't that great either IMO.

It’s funny you say that because I read this years ago and it makes a lot of sense:

What’s funny to me is that this is supposed to be some “pipe bursting” Arctic cold that pushes the storm track too far south, but Charlotte isn’t even forecast to get down to 15 degrees. But New Orleans and Destin are jackpotting anyway. I mean, what gives?

Agree. Some record arctic blast and temps will barely be 20 with highs in the 30s. How is any of that record breaking? Maybe wind chill but not actual temps.
There closer to the low and are cold enough. Moisture is snow in this event.

Sorry to all the newbies who are still maybe in the game for something. Wish I could pick up the slack, but I just put money down on a brand new house (under contract). I’m banned from all unnecessary spending. No subscriptions, so no models to post.
*I don’t feel they’re pesky. I was really hoping that after getting lucky last storm and if I missed out, this one would hit my fellow snow starved brothers and sisters in the carolinas (and elsewhere). But happy for y’all far south folks who will get to experience the magic of dihydrogen monoxide in its solid state! Look forward to pics of it in the most unexpected places!

I think the worst part of losing this is that I have nothing to look forward to now lol
We got snow the Friday before last so I really don’t have a ton to complain about in the grand scheme of things but this past threat may have been the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced in regards to winter weather. We had more consistency and more big model runs then I think I have ever had and we may not even see a flake now.

Jan ‘22 in Raleigh I feel like was forecasted to be max 3”, just kept coming down in our area and I think we measured 5”
The fact that the models were all in agreement if a major snowstorm at a decent timeframe is what got me. I mean everyone was saying how they rarely see them all in agreement under 300 hours. Then it all went to

I think this was the breaking point for me. Atleast in terms of watching models all day long. It has taken up way too much of my time especially when it’s clear that nothing matters more than 3-5 days out. There’s literally no point in looking at them past that.
