The way things are playing out you could just look at the Euro AI 5 days out and call it a day.

Or just take any model snowfall output you want and subtract 99.99999%.

And next year, there will be 76 AI models. Everyone will latch on to the ones showing what they want. And the same problems arise (though hopefully a wee better).

AI is a long way off from nailing it. The vast data voids over the oceans aside. The only way an AI could ever really get close to 100%, it would eventually have to take into account its own energy consumption and heat. Because chaos.

If Savannah gets another measurable snowfall and my snow drought of not seeing an inch continues, I just give up. You might as well forget seeing snow now if you live in inland Georgia below Macon, it's just not going to happen moving forward seemingly ever again for one reason or the other.

Idk but live oak are synonymous with the low country , I love them but yeah the grow slow but live forever

I got into this hobby at the wrong time shew boy. My first storm on here was a screwjob for mby and I’ve had 2 winter storm warnings and probably a total of like 5” of snow (3” from one storm) since. Not sure if it’s naivety or what that keeps me optimistic it’ll happen again eventually

Yeah, I recommend getting into machine learning & AI type of stuff. Forecasting the weather is 100% pointless.

I got into this hobby at the right time (2009 in GSO) and enjoyed 6-7 years of mostly snowy winters (2012 the exception) before moving to Florida and missing several big dogs from 2017-2019. Then I moved back to NC starting from the winter of 2019-2020 and every winter since has been a catastrophe with the exception of 2021-2022, which I would generously describe as “okay”.

Yeah I lived in New Hampshire for a couple of years. It was wild getting THREE foot plus snow events one winter, one 24" snow storm, and 43" in four days... but it is cold with ugly snow on the ground until April. The worst part was the consistent cloudiness because you're downstream from Great Lakes so lot of clouds forming toward you. North Carolina is the Sun Belt for a very good reason.
 
For real, it is cool that a lot of folks who don’t normally see snow are looking like they’re going to get a historic storm. It is just painful because this appeared to be our storm, then the rug was pulled right out from under us. If it was always a Deep South storm, I’d be really happy for them instead of being torn. 😂

It’s kind of insane TLH could see their second accumulating snowfall in seven years if this one works out in some fashion (though I think ice is more likely there).
 
I still can’t believe this happened a global inside day 4…our lives will never be the same

None of my classmates even know there’s a cliff to dive off of. Swear I’m the only one that keeps track of modeling

Yep. It’s such a strange niche hobby that we get to pretend to enjoy 2 months out of the year. You’ll never stop though. It will never break you enough to make you quit.
