Misc Cold Season Complaining

I just want everyone to sit back and think about this. Since you have been doing this how many times have you been in the bullseye at day 5, 6, 7 but ended up SE of the bullseye or in rain? Then think a little more how many times at day 5, 6, 7 have you seen a storm to your SE but it moved north in the last 96 hours.

When I was in Kansas City for the blizzard the GFS had a snow hole here on multiple runs 🤣 I'm talking like the entire 384 hours

That was inside 5 days!! The biggest snow day at the airport in 14 years

Here's the ridiculous thing that shouldn't have to be said, but if you are a met or very seasoned weather enthusiast (and we have some good ones), guess what, their specialty is going to be where they live. If that happens to be one area over another then work harder to get skilled individuals in your area to join the board or post more. Stormlover post maps for the Al crowd all the time, I don't get upset about that at all, glad he's doing it. Geez people
The thing is, given the relative geography for our regions, we usually experience the same systems. It's not always going to be snow for everyone, but I enjoy seeing why it snowed one place and not the other. It's the reason I look to Texas to see what they are experiencing. I know that it gives a good idea of what we can expect in Alabama. That is the reason I don't want different threads for different regions. I enjoy the experience and expertise from all of them.

Just finished listening to Brad Travis talk about the potential snow next week and it sucks hearing him say we may miss out on the snow being to far north ugh i need a new hobby.

I'm sure we'll have other storms though and I still have snow on the ground from last week

I've never thought next week was ours anyway the arctic push is too big

Heck it's still early in the winter here... If you would have told me we'd have 6 inches before mid January a few weeks ago I would have said you were crazy...

I honestly wouldn't mind being fringed in exchange for not dealing with p-type issues and higher snow ratios. 1-3 inches of fluffy, powdery snow with temps in the low-mid 20s during the storm would be amazing.

Of course, I won't lie and say that if my backyard got completely blanked while areas to the south and east of me got a historic storm I'd be pissed XD

0z models coming in, starting with ICON for those who haven’t figured out when it starts by now with all the comments about it. Can’t wait for all the complaints

Exactly why I've been saying NC needs their Own section, Upstate and NE GA needs their own section

No I wouldn't cause I could care less about the weather in NC. Upstate usually gets weather coming from GA, So all I care about living in upstate is here and GA. Why the hell would I need to know what NC weather is?
You make an interesting argument, but I gotta ask. If you don't care about NC's weather because it doesn't affect you (being downstream after all), then why should GA care about yours (SC being downstream after all) Wouldn't it make more sense to GA to be grouped with AL? It would for them (using this argument of course).

And AL could make the same argument about GA, and AL could make the same argument about MS. And MS/LA and LA/TX, etc...

Seems the decision has been made. The vote taken. Storms will invariably know no arbitrary boundaries. And within a storm discussion, the places affected will vary until it's happening and you look out your window (or the radar).

The only time things get annoying, to me at least, is when someone posts an image that has been zoomed in or cropped. Often it's some model image. Cropping out the time stamps and any context of what is being shown. Folks can pinch to zoom, ya know. But I get it, you're excited. But be aware that others might be interested in the whole image. That's the only ask I have on the folks going laser focused for their area.

I see this way more with the NC crowd. Just saying. And I’m mainly just a lurker with no knowledge other than what I’ve learned here. I agree the zooming in on certain regions is the most annoying thing I see on here.

The Oklahoma and Iowa talk bothers me more than anything someone from GA or NC says.

I hear ya about cropped images for the reasons you mentioned. On the other end, we also get uncropped images which include ads. Can't they crop those out but also include the time stamps?? Probably too much to ask 🤣 😏

LOL, I called my mom earlier tonight at Ocean Isle Beach (near the NC/SC border) and told her she technically had a better chance at wintry precip than I do Tues/Wed. She thought I was kidding.
I mentioned something about this to my students and they were not too excited. They don’t ever expect it in anyways. Some said that it never snows here anyways. Hopefully they get a real big surprise and maybe even a day off of school? That would be nice!

Canadian is gonna be a disaster for mby I bet. Can I give it away to someone else please?
