Misc Cold Season Complaining

My back yard doesn't need what the Euro AI and some other modeling is showing. There's big time ptype issues aside from snow. In fact, the entire storm is literally sleet or ZR for me. I really hope we get a middle ground with a weaker system and faster, but not a complete wiff here.
South Carolina and Goergia would take forever to recover if some of the ice maps I have seen are correct. 2+ inches of ice would much worse than Helene was in South Carolina. Look at Montreal Canada in 1998 for how bad things would be.

Of course. That's why I cannot get behind and want what the models like the Canadian and AIFS are showing. They look great on the maps, until you dive down into the temperatures and find the problem.

I'll gladly take 4-6 inches of actual snow vs. the inaccurate qpf bomb 12 inch+ snowfall models counting sleet & zr as snow.
Completely agree a bomb like on the Canadian is a no go for me. Freezing rain over .25 inches in my area wrecks damage on the pine trees

It looks like the GEFS ensemble is coming in with a much lighter event, therefore getting us to more of the snow side of things. Hopefully it and the EPS can come to agreement soon.

- Big storm on the horizon
- Model A shows a bust/fail mode
- “Model A is stupid/crazy/out to lunch/off its rockers because of XYZ” - Storm still looks good overall until 0-48 hours out
- Model A turns out to have been right all along

My fav saying…. “Would be Catastrophic For XYZ with this amount FRZN” knowing full well, FRZN output is 500% overdone most times more so than SN. Or “Lights Out If X model is right”

Idc what any of yall say…. My Dream is 8-12” of SN / 1-2” of Sleet / 1/2” FRZN …. If you’re gonna do something do it right man

Definitely 0z Canadian last night mostly kept me snow/ sleet but that one today was to much ice

Ready to be able to sit in the garage with the door up, bud we seer in hand, and yell at the deert when they eat my plants. Get this winter crap out of here.

This ain't a standard low. A long fetch of precip will blossom due to isotropic lift along the arctic boundary .. that's what you're seeing. Classic overrunning event. Been a looong time.

Thanks! Maybe they ARE real!

I'd hate to be a newbie here who is just wondering what's going to happen in their back yard.

This board has become one state dominant, as have all the rest of boards, and what looks good that way messes up the I-20 corridor.

If you live around I-20, east of the Midsouth, you want the weaker solutions and you don't want that thing they're talking about "coming out" completely and slowing the system down. You want it to come in fast when it's cold enough and weaker.

The 18z GEFS and the 18z Euro/EPS is showing the idea of what you want. The further North the heavy precipitation shield, the worse off you will be with mid-level temperatures.

Exactly why I've been saying NC needs their Own section, Upstate and NE GA needs their own section

Splitting those regions off would hurt the board as a whole.

I just want people to look at poster locations and connect it with the maps they are posting so maybe they can realize that if it looks good from their end, someone on the South end is getting hosed.

Yep. If Frosty says this looks good, we are toast south of 85.

I don't think it would hurt the board a bit. It would make things a lot more uniform and a Whole lot less confusion

You'll end up with people having to click 4 or 5 different threads to get all the content they can get in one right now.

And you'll still wind up going to the NC section to look at latest model runs.
No I wouldn't cause I could care less about the weather in NC. Upstate usually gets weather coming from GA, So all I care about living in upstate is here and GA. Why the hell would I need to know what NC weather is?

In the upstate your weather should be closer to the NC weather for CAD events

What this board needs weatherwise is a Jan 1988 repeat. That one nailed almost everyone along and north of I-20 from Mississippi to SC while also giving the Tenn and NC area a big hit too.
