Misc Cold Season Complaining

I’m going to get no work done for the next week. Probably drink too much and ignore my family as well.

May lose my family and job all in the same week.
Remind them that if you don’t track it then they get no snow. You have a 2 month window every year to bring them as much snow as possible and we are currently within that window.

My wife already thinks I’m crazy for tracking a storm for 2 weeks that gave us 45min of snow last week.

I have an odd complaint. Here me out. I have a ski trip planned for Snowshoe WV. Departing from Augusta GA on Monday 1/20 to arrive at Snowshoe one day after a forecasted 8-10" snow. I stay at Snowshoe until Thursday, during which time Augusta may have a significant/historic winter weather event.
Pros:
*Good ski conditions
*Possible first time experiencing -10 degree temps(Snowshoe forecast for Mon/Tues)

Cons:
*Too cold to ski(first day)
*Possibly miss out on great winter storm at home
*Scary drive home on Thurs, or possibly stranded somewhere.

Should I stay or should I go now?

I can say from experience you will be miserable skiing at 10 degrees. If the wind is blowing @ 10 degrees you will spend more time in the lodge than skiing. It’s awful. Your hands and face will hurt but the ski conditions will be epic which is hard to pass up. It just depends on your pain threshold and whether or not you want to chance missing a good one at home

concur especially if you're used to south carolina conditions lol

I laid out the pros and cons to my wife who scheduled the trip. She shut it down and said it's non-refundable so we are going!😂.

The weenie mobile has some competition!

Crap, Spann is going to jinx this thing for us, isn't he?

From NWS RAH:

The next big question is how shortwaves moving through the longwave trough could cause cyclogenesis in the Gulf of Mexico or along the south east coast, and how far west precipitation extends into a significantly cold air mass across the Carolinas. Models have been back-and-forth between offshore precipitation and precipitation extending well into North Carolina, with almost regular flip-flopping between model cycles. Probabilistic forecasts basically show at least a slight chance of snow between Tuesday and Thursday, which highlights the uncertainty, as is very unlikely to snow for that long. Instead, the models are having a hard time, focusing on one specific period of precipitation. For now, we will continue to
indicate a slight chance of snow with the caveat that this will definitely change and the system could have anywhere from no impact to significant impact.
Honesty. Love it

everyone piling on GSP 😂....Yall think -- is bad? I wouldnt even mention this online until Sunday. Id just try to make you think it "Just popped up" and if youre a weenie Id want you to think I wasnt even paying attention to next week at all....not a single mention. Why would GSP mention it? Nothing to gain, only to lose bc how crazy ppl are at ANY mention of Winter Wx. Wait till Sunday 100%
