Misc Cold Season Complaining

you talking about jimmy? it's not my policy typically to name drop but i've been close to coming in this thread a few times like.. this guy is writing novels. does anybody know his deal. chat gpt makes total sense

fro... whats happening in my back yard
Your area is a wildcard more likely around 2-3” but that coastal enhancement could do something. It’s on and off on modeling still

I’ve started grilling my pork chops and chicken after resting them overnight in a mix of a cup of pickle juice, a cup of milk, two tablespoons of garlic/paprika/red pepper flakes and let me tell you
this sounds amazing. i got a half pig back in june from a farm about 30 miles away. the owners drove a cooler to my house which i unloaded 100 pounds of meat into my freezer. this pork is on another planet. i have used chimichurri as my go to marinade in the past but i have to try this. it sounds so specific and so bizarre that i know this marinade has to be lights out

It’ll taste just like CFA grilled chicken every time. The milk helps breakdown the cells and you don’t even need a knife.

kind of what i think, burning incense tonight to ward off the models that put us on the north fringe of the accumulation finger

I am so excited for this it’s somewhat embarrassing. I’ve tracked more than a dusting once since joining this forum when I was a sophomore high school, and now I’m 4 months from a gold tag on here

We need to get back to a snowy pattern the next few years so I don’t keep making a fool of myself over a barely WSW event

Pretty sure folks value my posts more than your wishcasting nonsense. If you think this pattern couldn't have turned into a nor'easter it just shows your own ignorance. Why don't you try getting a life instead of holding grudges over someone's meteorological anaylsis you don't agree with because they hurt your fragile feelings. I'm still waiting for your forecast btw.

I think you bring up some very good points and I have learned a lot from your post. That dude s an egotistical clown.

Yea this is the first legit winter storm I’ve tracked since I was a junior in college. Feels like a lifetime ago

Thanks. So the storm didn't turn into a nor'easter. Obviously I was wrong about that. I'm not ashamed nor afraid to admit that. I've been wrong many times in the past and will be wrong many more times in the future God willing. Part of being human. Had the northern stream energy, which has trended stronger, dove in further west, the trough would have amplified and the surface low would have ended up bombing out and hugging the coast. This one wanted to climb the coast and we should all be super thankful it didn't, we certainly saw enough op runs where it did to know what could have happened.

this is how i felt at state for jan 28 2014, which was my first actual storm after being on the forums in high school stuck in wilmington. i was giddy

Noticing on WX Underground a few Stations already 14-15 degrees and Dews still at 10/11 Degrees in some Rural Areas….. wasn’t the forecast low like 19-21?

Does anybody know Ray up at RaysWeather? I’ve been following his site since I was a kid but he went the “subscribers only” route a few years back for his snow maps. He’s one of the best If not the best for WNC. If you know him tell him I want a free subscription bc I’ve been following him for 20+ years and he left me out in the cold IMG_1006.jpeg

I am so excited. I will struggle to fall asleep quickly. I will glare at radar and this site all day tomorrow. It’s been way too long

february 13 2014 i was up at 4 am for that legendary front end thump that caused the snowpacolpyse meme. clear as day i remember this, i was posting radar images like "its coming" and i think a mod or someone respected was like hey this is off topic and superjames, who is on here, was like, no it is on topic, hes fine. thank you @superjames1992

That was the most miserable winter storm I have been through, and I was in Birmingham for the Blizzard of '93. Feb 13 2014, I was just outside of Augusta, GA, and I sat up in the dark all night listening to pine trees behind my house popping like shotgun blasts, wondering when one was going to come through my living room. Two little kids, husband in Afghanistan, and no power for days. Ice storms freak me put now.

Well, about 5 hours from the onset in north ATL burbs. FFC has been pretty consistent and their last updated forecast at 11:00pm calls for about 1.5@ snow(/sleet) and 0.3” of ice here. Let’s see how they do…

my memory of that storm is that is also had a super mega wedge. i think the ice corridor was well south of forecast. wilmington had like 0.5 to 0.75 inches, and it rattled that city. my neighbors's had a tree fall on their house and it was A1 above the fold in the local paper. parents compared tree damage to fran. and i think almost none of this was forecasts, wilmington was supposed to be cold rain. augusta- another piece of collateral with that coridor

Haha, that was an amazing storm, back when I was in GSO. The front end thump was sick, I just wish I got in the epic ULL the next day that dropped like 12-18” on the foothills. Ended up with like 8” of SN/IP (7” from the main event and another inch or so from the ULL).

I see we are at the part of the storm where people start melting down over temperatues rising by one degree, etc.

I had 13” in Salisbury (Mt Ulla) I got 4” that second day in the ULL. Statesville on up to Frosty got 18-24” if I’m not mistaken. 2nd biggest storm of my life (33yrs old) #1 Was Feb 2004

I remember it started pouring snow in GSO at 1pm with surface temperatures around 20. Stuck to the roads immediately, which isn’t something you often see in mid February at peak solar radiation. It was that cold! Too bad the mid levels warmed later in the storm, but oh well! It was a textbook example over overrunning coming in earlier than expected, the RDU stuff ended up overperforming big time as I remember, I don’t think you all were supposed to get much?

it's tough to hone in on an exact narrative but i think that the sleet line is generally on the northern side of the guidance envelope and not trending favorably

This storm could be the biggest snowfall I’ve seen IMBY since February 2015…almost 10 years. I just need 2.5” or so to make that happen. Geez, that’s sad. And even sadder that I am definitely not confident we get that much (though it’s very possible)! 😂

Yeah, it does seem so. What can go wrong, will go wrong. Hoping we aren’t singing the same tune tomorrow night (not that I expect much, but give me 1-3”!). 😢 At least you shouldn’t mix up there in Richmond, I would think.

i think the general consensus was 2-4 and we were 4 or 5 before sleet came depending where you stuck a yardstick. it started basically at noon sharp in raleigh and lasted until 4:30, i remember because my suite was hellbent on playing football outside (it sucked)

i think we're going to make it out clean here but never say never! thinking 2-4 is a consensus, no need to reinvent the wheel, 6 is possible if we get good banding. For you, personally i lean sleetier than you'd think, as is the north carolina way, but generally i'm rooting for everyone to get a nice haul

Gotcha. I do think it started earlier than expected, but we also changed over to sleet quicker than expected, so that ended up being somewhat of a wash. Amazing one, though, and the memes will be forever memorable. 😂

Not trolling, and definitely not a Pro…. But starting to wonder about some of these Georgia peeps. They’re only at like 30-32 degrees… with their onset I get WetBulbing and stuff with dews around 32/16 (Homer GA) for Ex, but man talk about making you pucker a bit. Ik we’re also 175 miles North-East of them but I just peaked outside not a cloud in the sky and I’m already at 18/14. Idk maybe I’m just that much of a novice but just an observation

Not much for complaining and I’m doing the right thing and not clogging up the main thread. How in the heck have they not cancelled school in LEX/RICH 5 for Irmo/Dutch Fork/Chapin? They better hope
they don’t have school buses on the road at 1 and it gets Icy. Seems very irresponsible.

Surprising giving they have WWAs. In Spartanburg they would close if a rain drop looked funny😂😂😂. Hopefully out of caution they do so in the morning

After this I’ll give you the last word because I can tell that’s the type of person you are but anybody who knows me knows I’m not a wishcaster and what the heck does it mean that a pattern could have turned into something? I mean, it’s either something or it isn’t. My 82 could have turned into a 72 if I was 10 shots better, lol.

This is crazy to me because I’m now 30 and I remember reading AmWX in high school and thinking you were always posting conservatively. and you had a blog too I think?
