Misc Cold Season Complaining

I've resigned to the idea that I won't see snow until at least 2026.

Probably won't see much in the way of thunderstorms this summer either outside of my annual spring chasecation.

Warm/Wet Tropical Atlantic + Cold Pacific is a killer for the New Mexico Summer Monsoon. Weakens the Azores-Bermuda High & strengthens the "Death Ridge" over the Four Corners. Yay, time for another summer with a 1-2 month long stretch of 100-105F days.

I bet if the dgex was still around it would have snowed by now. It would have manifested it
This was always hilarious to me but the former MIC at NWS RAH used to quote the DGEX in his forecast discussions when he was on duty. Everyone in the office made fun of him lol (including me 🤣).

I’m actually too young/new to NWP to even have seen a dgex run. I just know about it via this place

I really started digging into analyzing NWP after Feb. 2004 and right at the start of the great snow drought that lasted until Jan 2009. By then, I was a senior at NCSU and had studied countless storms and NWP output, but had never really tracked one in real-time while analyzing NWP as a meteorologist would so I honestly questioned if I even knew what to look for. I got took to school greatly the following few winters. What a time to be at NCSU and NWS back then. I remember sitting in class and looking at model runs coming in on our phone and freaking out lol. And we were looking at < D4 output not D10 haha. Those were the days 😭.

Agreed. I know and appreciate that sometimes it requires the thankless adult job of sitting down on the floor cross-legged with all the toddlers to keep things fair and in order.

I’m in a very similar situation. No idea what I’m looking at till this year and it hasn’t snowed since my freshman year

The last couple years here have made me wonder how Christmas 2009 and February 2011 even happened. I mean February 2021 was big too but those were actual blizzards here

Lately we're lucky if it flurries for 2 hours

That had to be awhile back. We've laughed at the DGEX here for years pretty sure.

Oh yeah this was back in like 2009-2011 period. It was always whack but I think this particular individual sort of viewed it as the "high-end" potential for a given event. But it was more like the "it's high" potential.

Important interjection: bowling green’s punter just threw a ball 40 yards on a rope tight spiral for a touchdown on a fake. I have never seen that good of a throw by a non QB

Even more important: the commentators failed to realize that was the third string QB and not the punter
