It's perfectly fine and several things to eventually figure out ahead of event. The most important thing no matter amounts is will there be a system as long as models show that we are golden. The meso models when closer will be ones to follow for better total #s

We should get some kind of phase faster here. The vortex looks a lot better vs 6Z
Icon dropped the NStream wave down from ND to TN. That doesn’t work. For a storm of consequence (and cold) in lower snow climo areas, it needs to drop positive tilt from MT to OK, then jerk it to neutral just in time. Tall task

How likely is that to play out on the ground, particularly in CAD areas? I know the strength of CAD is frequently undermodeled, right?

We do have some high pressure feed here with near perfect placement. Cant imagine this would be resolved quickly if this were the general setup

That initial folding western ridge is what moves east. From an H5 perspective, it's beginning to be hard to see a way out of this without some totally unforeseen northern stream energy and/or a perfect timing situation. We find new ways to lose every winter.
