I’ve got 35 right now at my house which seems to line up with ob sites around the area that are mainly in the 34-36 range. Somehow the Monroe airport has dropped to 30 which seems a bit odd because I’m usually about dead on with temp there.
Been living in Lexington SC for about 15 yrs and I don’t ever remember having a freeze this late into April. ?29.8 ?
If you (we) can get an early freeze this fall (before October 22) you'll go less than 6 months between last and first freeze.Been living in Lexington SC for about 15 yrs and I don’t ever remember having a freeze this late into April. ?
Yeah I was a little surprised it was able to get that cold this morning but winds died down and bottom fell out32 here at the house. Official readings at 6am had 33 at RDU (lets see if it can drop one more degree). 30 at Sanford (lets see if it can drop to 29).
Minor update, dropped .5 to 29.3 briefly and looks like been below freezing about 2 hours so far29.8 ?
Just remember this is normal, plants will regrow, it's great walking weather, it feels like fall, and it's so much fun!Minor update, dropped .5 to 29.3 briefly and looks like been below freezing about 2 hours so far
I checked the official NCEI bham99 calendar and yeah the average last freeze is may 29 so this is normal . Plus his granddaddy told him this happened once.Just remember this is normal, plants will regrow, it's great walking weather, it feels like fall, and it's so much fun!
Where else but WilkesTemps and dews seem low enough where’s my ice storm
If RDU doesn't at least tie the record they need to move the sensorI checked the official NCEI bham99 calendar and yeah the average last freeze is may 29 so this is normal . Plus his granddaddy told him this happened once.
I said I didn’t think we would get below 36-38 because I was banking on the breeze staying up just enough to keep things up. I still only dropped to 34 at my house though the Monroe airport dropped to 30.31. Whoever was on here yesterday saying they doubt we even make it to the upper 30’s, do not play the lottery this week. You were way off
Couple of late freezes and hail storms have put the trees through it this SpringView attachment 82178
Not sure how bad the freeze damage willbe today but my neighbors maple tree looks like its melting so that's a start.
Agreed!Just remember this is normal, plants will regrow, it's great walking weather, it feels like fall, and it's so much fun!
I've got some theories about the PV, SSWs, seasonal breakdown but I've gotta look at thatAgreed!
30.4 last night. Why can't we ever get to freezing like that in winter?
final warming this year hasn’t been clean we split some vortex’s vs just fading the whole vortexI've got some theories about the PV, SSWs, seasonal breakdown but I've gotta look at that
On clear/calm nights you want to be in the lower elevation areas, compared to your surroundings. I'm on a ridge (compared to surroundings) and always a little warmer than most others during these setups. I mentioned Sanford in my other post; it's always a cold spot. Rocky Mount (east of Raleigh) can also come in low sometimes.I had 34 at my house and 28 a few miles away.
But we need more days like these not enoughYard is black. Awesome. Maybe we will finally have a green up in June if any plants actually come back
It's incredibly frustrating to continue to see things frosted off. Like I said yesterday I am not sure if some plants that have been frozen twice now will actually come back they only store so much energy for green up. It's ok though it's holding back all of those mythical 90s we get in April, not sure how having a freeze in April stops summer but this place also told me that having dews verifying a degree or 2 lower than models 72 hours before an event meant it was going to overperformBut we need more days like these not enough
Just natures pruning!Yard is black. Awesome. Maybe we will finally have a green up in June if any plants actually come back, what a joke.
Maybe someone that wants the freeze can pay my water bill this summer when I try to rehab the damageJust natures pruning!
