I am basically on the Charlotte/Matthews line. North of Independence.
Yeah there's a ton more storms in that area than Union
I know! It still baffles me as to why. I think part of it is the substantial increase in elevation and more in the way of terrain and different soils.
Yeah I've got my apartment that I use for work in South Charlotte, and I can tell on the southern side of 485 elevation drops off pretty quick
It sure does. But even that area is more prone to storms than most the county. It's as if the Stevens Mill/Stallings Rd area is the dividing line in Union.
Lot's of OFB's tonight. Already development heading towards @Myfrotho704_ . Hoping this continues well into the night!

Very intense storm here. Rain picked up and then the winds got very intense. Two Bradfords split across the way so it's likely there were 50 or 60 mph gusts. Radar looks ominous.
No rain, so much pain, jealousy in your brain, honestly might just need a hurricane, just to keep all of us sane
Tomorrow should be good too then things may shift down your way for the weekend

I saw you got bullseyed by that first little pulse. It was so tiny, it was sunny here. Lots of lightning with this big mass. Tho, I didn't see hail here, and that's one thing I'm glad I missed out on...
@Myfrotho704_ You were right, as always. Storms slowly progressing southward and more are developing as we speak. Let's do this!

Yeah, I’m living near East Forsyth HS for a month while our home is repaired after a leak in our home. It was wild over here for sure.

Well I guess Shetley was right. At least for the upstate. Nothing at all! And today was supposed to be active according to GSP. Smh
Maybe we'll have an outbreak of wedges all winter long too.

Dang it! Why so Fayetteville can be 75 with a dew of 62 with partly cloudy skies while its 44 and dumping cold rain ( not kidding this is what happens ) here.

Beautiful , can confirm was an epic storm ! Second picture is where I went to high school . Most impoverished school in county and second lowest performing !
Yeah I was trying to capture a strike next to the rain shaft but it didn't happen.
I've been playing around with some radar data in Python, here are the storms as we have Flash flood watches out of the Triad using level III radar.

Darn! The CTG lightning frequency on that storm had to have been the highest I have seen this summer !
It was definitely impressive, including in the updraft region where it was rain-free. I had a couple of strikes hit real close.
