Arctic April

It’s a race against time now as the sun sets. Should help isolate the zone of showers/storms as it enters north/west NC and weaken.

Yeah im not crazy about heat but id rather it be warm right now. There are questions about how much warmth impacts the virus but honestly i dont think warmth would help spread the virus. It would only help eliminate it.
 
That storm that missed me to the west has some energy behind it. We had about 5 minutes of very gusty winds with any of the strong echos at least 20 miles away. Bet it was really good blow out in front of that bow.

There is an inflow and outflow with every storm. Your experience with one of those does not necessarily mean the strong echo was any different or stronger.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM EDT
FOR PERSON...VANCE AND GRANVILLE COUNTIES...

AT 547 PM EDT, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE
EXTENDING FROM 6 MILES SOUTH OF VIRGILINA TO NEAR LEASBURG, MOVING
SOUTHEAST AT 40 MPH.

HAZARD...60 MPH WIND GUSTS AND QUARTER TO HALF DOLLAR SIZE HAIL.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED.

IMPACT...HAIL DAMAGE TO VEHICLES IS EXPECTED. EXPECT WIND DAMAGE TO
ROOFS, SIDING, AND TREES.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
HENDERSON, OXFORD, ROXBORO, KITTRELL, CONCORD, STOVALL, MIDDLEBURG,
GILLBURG, MAYO RESERVOIR AND STEELE CREEK MARINA & CAMPGROUND.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

PREPARE IMMEDIATELY FOR LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. PEOPLE OUTSIDE
SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER, INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING AND AWAY FROM
WINDOWS.
 
A lot of weakening Blacksburg VA south already. No surprise the dry wins again.
 
Outflow boundary pushing south should start igniting new storms soon, lots of congested cumulus out there right now, just need a little trigger like that outflow boundary 66D7CC3A-D7EF-4629-992B-1A0E93B9A829.png
 
I just don’t think new storms are gonna fire. I thinks it’s going to be much less widespread due to the sun setting and it being dry for so long.
 
Keep a close eye on the tail end of this bowing segment in southern Granville County, you can sometimes get brief spin-up tornadoes &/or gustnadoes where there’s a lot of horizontal shear created by differential flow speeds in close juxtaposition to the cold pool of a strong thunderstorm.
