Misc 2021 Spring/Summer Whamby Thread

It's crazy how fractured this forum has become between the western and eastern portions of the board that we now have to have two different threads for severe weather.

Reminds me of Americanwx which is the main reason I left that board in the first place.
Well I am the eastern side. Bro, we have eastern and western style bbq debates in our own state!!!! I can imagine weather varies significantly between Mississippi and Carolinas.

Well, low energy weather is winning today here. I smell a bust coming for tomorrow's severe potential here... low energy weather is always hard to beat back. Need some test boosters for the atmosphere. Congrats Fayetteville, ill probably get a gusty 58-degree rain tomorrow as the front approaches after spending the entire day in the 40s.

Didnt use to be. There are a thousand threads talking about how we use to have to shovel snow to make our way to school with a backpack full of emergency supplies bc the blizzards scared our parents into making us carry it. Dude, things are changin'
My grandma told me in third grade she had to walk up a mountain six miles to school with a 75 lb backpack (school books were heavier back then because they did so much more learning) in a tornadic blizzard! She said there were drifts of snow up to six feet high with 100 mph winds and there was an EF-5 tornado that ripped through her town and destroyed the entire business district. Things just don’t be like they used to be.

The split thread is something I've wanted to try for a while, to me it makes a lot of sense on the day of or day before an event. Chances are there is a good % of people coming here for their backyard and sifting through other backyards is probably less than ideal. Doing nowcasting/day of threads for events makes it easier for people to come in and get local info day of.

If having it split sucks or causes a lot of issues we won't do it anymore.

It sucks.

but but but my capacity for understanding when a post is about/not about my area and deciding if i want to care about that is extremely limited

I would like to have a real discussion on the 2 threads vs 1 topic. I've said it before this is a board for the members so it's a legitimate conversation and I'd hate to see the site dislked bc of something this simple
Respectfully, I don't think today is the day for that discussion. Regardless of how today turns out, there's high traffic and if we can avoid any more confusion I think that's best. The messages that need to get across need to do so without being cluttered by thread location arguments

I first and foremost propose reinstating birdman as forum admin. Otherwise nothing will be solved here . Thank you that is all.

I dont take any issue at all, like I said, NC is different from FL, so in and so on. 2 threads are good so people can focus on areas that affect them the most. Shouldnt even be a debate.

It does seem a little late to try this experiment. But not gonna knock trying the experiment.

No need to be such a snarky lil turd ! It’s an inside joke inside of a thread for banter !

Ladies and gentlemen here is a prime example of why I said snow weenies are the most weenie !

ps. Ask climo bro @Sleet City USA to fill you on the joke

Then you can scroll on past without starting a 14 reply argument that people care even less about

Yeah, I really don't understand why it's that hard. It's a lot simpler just having one thread for one system. It's not hard to decide if a post is about your area or not, and what happens today could be a preview of things to come tomorrow further east. It just doesn't make sense to me to have two separate threads and having to go back and forth from one thread to another about the same system. It's actually easier to miss posts that way than to just have one thread open and refreshing it. People say they don't care about what happens here or there, then just read past it. Also, if people want to go back and read about a past event they can just read it all in one thread and see how the whole thing unfolded instead of having to read different threads for the same system.

Why don't we just have separate forums for each state for those that only care about discussing things in their state, and then a general forum for those that care about discussing and reading how a system affects everyone?

Ladies and gentlemen. This lick f**kbag is a prime example of a troll. Now that we’ve gotten the obvious AF crap out of the way, carry on.

I completely agree with SD on this. Clearly what is happening today and tonight will impact MS, AL and TN more than anyone. Then as it shifts East it will impact others. For the past couple of days, I have seen posts mostly centered on the Carolinas with forecasts, hodos, etc. While I am interested in the weather all across the SE, when an area is in a Moderate or High for Day 1, I believe a separate thread is warranted to discuss the immanent danger. That's all.

Separate thread for each state sounds good to me but seems overboard. Don’t worry about making a Georgia thread since we suck at everything.

In all seriousness. What is up with Georgia always being left out? On the old talk weather it was the religious nuts in Alabama show. Here it’s the smart asses in NC with sprinkles of folks whining in SC show.

What do you mean by Ga being left out?
