The fantasy storms are running low, the extreme cold on models isn’t looking extreme at all, cold days are days in the 60s/50s on models in the longer range, spring

Flagstaff is probably the best snow city to live in in the country. Tons of snow, not that cold in the winter, and summer is amazing!
Flagstaff averages 24” of rain per year IIRC. It is in the mountains and well forested.

That’s not a desert, though. It’s more arid than here, but that’s much more rain than Denver here, for example.
