Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

Yes, aside from the NAM it looks decent for a moderate event to me. Yes, I’m a modernweenie. Not feeling confident about a 6-12” big dog at this point, but there’s a reason those are rare.

I would call it a great winter if we can see a 2-3" snow event on Friday. With those temps it would be a very nice event.

Yeah, we’d get more street stickage from that than a lot of the 6” pastebombs at 32F we get. I’m just hoping we get enough to sled on as there’s a hill in Chapel Hill I want to try with my sled I brought over from my parents’ place over Christmas.

Yep.

Im rooting for everyone on here!! there WILL BE a west trend

Remember 2-3 days ago, when the WAR wasn’t done flexing and giving everybody rain?? That aged well!

There is a little madness to the sky healing theory and I why I favored shunting everything east since Saturday. Hopefully Raleigh can still squeeze out 1-2” but it’s starting to be low confidence 30%. As systems and fronts pass overhead, models can see better. To sum it up, always side with no snow over snow and you will be right the majority of the time. I hope we can score a nice band of 0.5” amounts for everyone would be nice imo.

The rest of the south getting used to what we have to deal with in CHS every winter. One legit winter weather threat maybe, and everything has to go just right. That’s how the 2010 and 2018 snows came through for us

This is probably the most I’ve let a potential wiff bother me since the double wiff in Jan 2018 that Columbia experienced (which was the only city in the entire Southeast nearly that didn’t see measurable winter weather. It’s just incredible how bad we are at weather down here. It wouldn’t feel near as bad if we got something along with everyone else a couple days ago. But even the backside snow missed us 30 miles to the North. I typically don’t get on here & whine anymore, cause I know no one really cares regardless, but I know we got a bunch of passionate weather people in here, so y’all would understand. Just an incredibly painful streak we are in down this way. This storm pulled me in more than any storm has in 4 years.

They are thinking about closing school Friday and the stores are packed with excited people, this is going to be painful.
I think most here are eager to go back Friday my side road is 2” thick concrete of mess still. Wilkes schools closed tomorrow

The crazy thing is that I really thought last night that at least "some" icing was going to happen on Friday night.

Now? Honestly, I think the NWS is cray cray for still having me at 50% for Friday night.
