When the U shape at the base of a trough turns into an O shape.Newb question... what does "close off" mean?
Need more than thatWhen the U shape at the base of a trough turns into an O shape.
Basically when we say “it’ll make it’s own cold air.”Need more than that
Gotcha. So when it closes off and becomes a circle, how does that create cold air?Basically when we say “it’ll make it’s own cold air.”
We’re looking for the big circle on z500 vort maps
Damn he got some legs!
While we're asking weather questions, I've always wondered. What's the difference between the ukmet and euro? Do they use the same data?
because it just does. Newton’s law of basic weather fundamentalsGotcha. So when it closes off and becomes a circle, how does that create cold air?
The UKmet is the euro but with crooked teeth. While we're asking weather questions, I've always wondered. What's the difference between the ukmet and euro? Do they use the same data?
Works for mebecause it just does. Newton’s law of basic weather fundamentals
I think it has to do with the cold air itself . It’s heavy and dense , basically pulling down its own cold air as it goes . Kinda like , we ya know your boys down below when they hang real low.Works for me
We’ll go with thisI think it has to do with the cold air itself . It’s heavy and dense , basically pulling down its own cold air as it goes .
This mack?
Thanks Ollie. I tried looking up info on the ukmet but couldn't find much compared to info on other models.Nope, two totally different modes that use different algorithms. The Ukmet is specific to Britain, while the Euro is run by the European Union.

Does it say anywhere the last time this list was updated? From GFS bias. You can actually submit a bias yourself and they will review it !
“Precip Type Algorithm off of GFS too eager to depict snow “
No but it looks old . I can’t find more up to date ones , though some of them seem to still hold true .Does it say anywhere the last time this list was updated?

We’ll chalk it up to “sometimes it just wants to snow.”It's weird, this setup with the diving clipper is just really new to me. Can't recall tracking anything similar. Digging northern stream shortwave over the rockies, sure. But this far east, diving, trying to amp, and snow on us last second I just can't recall. Lots of models show it, and producing so I'm going to watch, see what happens and try to learn.

WELL WE DONT WANT THATICON is a I40 special in NC.
A closed upper low is indicative of a stronger system. The dynamics associated with it produce greater lift and thus greater precipitation and stronger cooling. An open wave, however, can still produce precipitation, depending on its orientation and tilt.Need more than that
13-9 UGA. Your comment had aged terribly within 10 minutes. ?It's fixing to be 16-6. ?
